Fairbanks to Seward

Mancuso

Recommended Posts

We've booked a Summit cruise for 6/24/06 Southbound from Seward and are in the planning stages for a land tour. We want to fly into Fairbanks and take the new Alaska Railroad Gold Service train south.

We're planning to spend time in Denali and are wondering if anyone has an opinion about staying there 3 nights and then heading to Anchorage or 2 nights and then 1 in Talkeetna?

We love National Parks and time outdoors.

Thanks,

Depends on what you want to do. Talkeetna is a cute little town - not much to do except eat at Mile High Pizza Pie and the Roadhouse, take 20 minutes to walk end to end and side to side. There are a few cute little shops, and you could catch Denali flightseeing from here (weather permitting). The railroad does connect. But not alot of other activity.

Denali area has hiking, river rafting, flightseeing, some shops, dog kennel, shuttle bus, ranger talks/walks, good restaurants. More to do, but you miss that cute little town.
