snappledrinker Posted July 5, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 5, 2005 We just returned from the AOS 6-26-2005 cruise with one of the stops in Curacao. We decided to take a cab to Kontiki Beach Club after reading the positive reviews on this website. If you are planning a stop at Kontiki, be aware that there's some construction occurring in the water just off the beach. A large backhoe was lifting sand out of the bottom and creating what seemed to be a break wall perpendicular to the beach. Besides the murky water created by the large machine, the noise and fumes were very annoying. RCCL had an excursion where they take passengers to the beach via a boat ride. From what I understand, several asked for their money back, and received it. If it was not for the construction work, it seems like it would have been an enjoyable place........So, if you are planning a stop at Kontiki or are taking the RCCL excursion, you should check first to be sure the construction is complete. kpgclark Posted September 4, 2005 #7 Share Posted September 4, 2005 I was there last week during a cruise on the Disney Magic. It is a nice beach but be sure to wear water shoes because the sand has lots of coral in it. Also there is only a small portion of beach where the water is shallow. There is a drop off of around 2 feet or so shortly after the place where water meets sand. There are lots of shady places to sit and it is inexpensive to go there. There is no pool. It is clean.
