BellaOnline Posted July 6, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 6, 2005 NCL's vintage / wine gift list is here - http://www.ncl.com/more/bon_voyage_list.htm#vintage note it's different from their full menu for thier restaurants. This is what they encourage you to buy to drink in your room. Out of curiosity being a wine writer I checked on which were commonly available in the US, and the price both in retail shops and in restaurants. I highly recommend the Mumm, that's a great deal :) Plus it's what they drink in Casablanca :) The info on the left is from NCL although the 'notes' are my own. donna@donnaanderson.com Posted July 6, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 6, 2005 I still do not know why it is more in your room than in the NCL resturant?
shoreguy Posted July 6, 2005 #3 Share Posted July 6, 2005 I still do not know why it is more in your room than in the NCL resturant? They don't - the wines and prices listed above are from the gift list you can order for a friend or yourself pre cruise. Any wine on the restuarant list can be ordered for your cabin onboard. you will bay the 15% gratuity but not the sales tax you would pay on the gift selection. donna@donnaanderson.com Posted July 6, 2005 #5 Share Posted July 6, 2005 I know I can order via fax but I do not like to give out my credit card info via the fax; don't mind giving it out on the phone. Do you think the 1-800-327-7030 is the NCL number I should call to order the champagne in my cabin for embarkation? Based on so many recommendations I am going with the Mumm "Cordon Rouge". Although I was tempted to go with the M + C White which I know costs little more than at the local store and probably tastes great.

BellaOnline Posted July 6, 2005 Author #7 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Right so it's cheaper to pay 5% sales tax vs 15% bar tip :) Mumm! Mumm! Mumm! It's such a classic Champagne. I suppose I just love Casablanca :) I do like the Champagne a lot, though, too. I have a ton of Champagne cocktail recipes, so just order some OJ and other basics with your room service and toast the cruise life :) I can't see "Moet et Chandon" without thinking of the Queen song ... shoreguy Posted July 6, 2005 #8 Share Posted July 6, 2005 Right so it's cheaper to pay 5% sales tax vs 15% bar tip :) ... I did not say that :) but it might be from NCL onboard wine list 90 Moët & Chandon "White Star" $45 Épernay, France 92 Mumm "Cordon Rouge" $40 Lets see 51.75 + 5% = 54.35, 45+15% = 51.75 Look call room service when you get onboard save $3 Just given the facts. I would rather put 15% in the tip pool for the bar staff then 5% to the government
