Sillyjilly Posted September 19, 2013 #51 Share Posted September 19, 2013 I just want to say one more thing, in case any Carnival employees( who are in a place to make a difference ) and read this board. I love Carnival, and have loved all five of my cruises with them, some have been solo, and others not, but now, I find that solo cruising is the only possibility for me, as no friends to cruise with, and family cannot join at this time. But I need at least 6 months to arrange vacation time from work, and really only have a certain time of the year that I can go, so please Carnival, if you can, make this offer something that we solo cruisers can arrange a little more in advance. Just hoping.:o I think it's safe to say that those sailings have a lot of cabins left and they are trying to fill these ships up.
Sillyjilly Posted September 19, 2013 #52 Share Posted September 19, 2013 It's a pretty good sign, IMHO. I too am hoping they'll continue doing these in the next year, as I'm already booked on two cruises for the rest of this year. Even if most of those rates are on 1A cabins (which I suspect they are), it's still more than worth it. Nope, all insides and OV's. I was able to go from a 1A to a 4K and get money back. yahoooooooooooooooooooooooo
tattoos Posted September 19, 2013 #53 Share Posted September 19, 2013 I jumped on this one...thanks to the person who originally posted the info. I booked the 10/21 sailing on the Legend, 5 nights, Interior with French Doors, $337 total with taxes and fees. Love these rooms and glad I'm sailing on the Legend again before it repositions to Australia.

Sargent_Schultz Posted September 21, 2013 #60 Share Posted September 21, 2013 Not sure we have been recognized. They are having a hard time selling cabins and this is one the many ways they are trying to fill the ship. If they wanted to give some love to solo cruisers they could offer the 1a cabins at a reduced supplement for the entire year or reduce the initial deposit. Or basically just turn back the clock a few years. Half full or half empty. Who cares? The opportunist takes advantage of and leaves the speculative analysis to land lubbers. The opportunist takes advantage of and leaves the speculative analysis to land lubbers. Maybe my point was missed. I think its the deals are great. Im doing a B2B2B on Fascination. I just often see solo cruisers yearn to feel appreciated by the cruiselines. So any gesture done is seen as sign that they want us, when in actuality their motives are more clearly seen by their overall solo booking policies. Like the saying when someone shows you who they are..believe them :) Bottom line we just have to find the best deals and share them with each other. There is a huge thread on the solo board where many of us do just that very thing. I also say watch fares this fall, I think we are going to see some of the lowest in cruise history, from not just carnival. Royal Caribbean s oasis of the seas has been selling at 110% SS for almost a month. Great time for cruisers, not so great for cruiselines. Its a buyers market and I love it. If I didn't have a transatlantic booked I could take advantage of more 0%SS sailings. Ah first world problems :) Edited September 21, 2013 by TwizzlersAddict

Of course it is, but perhaps the number of cruiseships is growing, and more megaships have yet to be delivered. Maybe the cruise industry is becoming saturated so a solo cruiser at a low rate is better than having an empty cabin.
SnowshoeCat Posted September 21, 2013 #63 Share Posted September 21, 2013 (edited) I just got off the phone with Carnival. It seems as if it may have been a computer glitch because even though the price shows up, it changes at the "booking" page. So for those of you who got in, enjoy! I still got a good rate on the cruise (booked months ago), but this would have been better! Edited September 21, 2013 by SnowshoeCat

The deal is capacity controlled so when the cabins are gone they are gone. I just tried it on a few cruises from the list and the 0% SS is still available

When I chose the cabin, it still had the low price, then the next page showed the higher price. Even the agent on the phone tried to get me to get the booking number for her so she could work her computer magic, but we couldn't get it to stick. Maybe I'll try again later. You have to pay to get a booking number, so I didnt go that far, but I got to the point where it asked me for payment. Which cruise are you looking at? ? The cabin I was in (up/down bunk bed) apparently wasn't available. But... the midship OV was available, so I booked that for about $120 less than the interior. I could have saved a little more if I booked an aft cabin, but why be greedy :D I like midship, anyway, so I'll splurge. So four nights, solo, less than $100/day including fees and gratuities! AuntBek Posted September 22, 2013 #73 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Thanks for posting this! I wasn't really shopping for a cruise, but saw this and it was too good to pass up. So I booked the 12/9 Freedom 5 nights for $219 OV. I still need air from Sac to FLL which is around $350 right now, but I'll keep an eye on it. I've never been to Grand Cayman, so I'm looking forward to scuba diving there. Quick question... How do you get the casino deals? I didn't see those on the web page. Thanks again!! TwizzlersAddict Posted September 22, 2013 #74 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Re: casino rate I use to play blackjack and roulette on the ships about 3 years ago, I would always give my SS card to the pit boss before I played. Haven't played in several cruises, but they often send me emails with extremely low casino rates, most even include casino cash.
