We ended up at this resort last February while on a cruise, we took a taxi to public beach, and were not impressed, so walked down a the beach a bit and ended up here. Had to buy wrist bands (not a problem, we had done some research) so we sent the DH's up to the guard shack to find out where to get them, while we were asked to leave the beach by an employee. We explained that the men had gone to find where to purchase the bands, they get back and we all put them on, a waitress comes along for our drink order and explains she is the only one and it takes a while to go to bar to get drinks and bring them back, again, no problem, it is vacation, no hurries!! The kids swam out to the jumping pad and were quickly chased away, seems that is an additional wrist band charge. Oh well, we did not stay long, had our drink, and went back to the port and hung out. It may be better if you book an excursion to this hotel, which was beautiful, but there was nothing going on there, no music, slow slow service and all we really used was a few chairs on the beach, I do not remember what the bands cost, but it was not worth it in my opinion.

Not a fan of Freeport, but we have taken the taxi to Port Lucaya and just "wondered" into a hotel and out the door to their beach just past the Port Lucaya casino (cannot remember the name but its up on the hill) without paying a red penny. I've done this for the better park of 5 times and no one has ever said anything. Then we hop across the street to the Port Lucaya market and have some lunch.

There isn't much to do in Freeport, so we typically just stay on the ship.

We were there a year ago and this is from my review!:D

"In Freeport when went to the Grand Lucayan Resort with a $10/pp day pass and a few other couples we met onboard. My DW and I had been to the resort 42 years earlier and though it looked a lot different it brought back many great memories! The resort had several pools including an infinity pool, a nice beach, reasonable bar prices, starbucks, and you could pay for parasailing, jet skis, sailing, snorkeling… Hard to miss with Stuarts Cove and the Grand Lucayan Resort!!"

Luv2Cruz was there about a year ago and paid $10/pp. I've been hearing it's more than that currently--like $15 or even higher.

Sylantbob, you should check out The Junkanoo Beach Club on Taino Beach. I was there in March and it's gorgeous. Less crowded than the Lucayan area of Freeport and nicer beach, too. It's a $7/pp taxi van fare vs. the $5/pp to Port Lucaya. And, although they say it's free admission, the have a fellow standing at the entrance selling $5/pp beach loungers (they set them up for you personally down at the water). It will end up to be less expensive than the Lucayan hotel beach. Google it (don't confuse this with Nassau's Junkanoo Beach) and you'll see pics of the place. It's beautiful. There's also a restaurant/bar and beachside service. Very clean restrooms and also a little straw market nearby to get a Bahamas shopping fix in. They do have snorkeling excursions from here, too. All the info is on their website. Check it out. I'm going again in a few weeks.
