Chenega Posted September 22, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 22, 2013 Can anyone let me know which area has better chance to have humpback whale bubble net feeding Icy Strait Point or Kenai Fjord The choice would be the Icy Strait Point trip for whale watching; however, the Kenai Fjords Northwestern trip is certainly more scenic. paylady Posted September 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 22, 2013 There are no guarantees for bubble net feeding, regardless of location. Additionally, the two tours are VASTLY DIFFERENT. At ISP, you are almost guaranteed to see humpbacks. You may catch only humps and tails but you will be seeing them. I haven't heard of anyone not seeing whales out of ISP. The Kenai Fjords excursion you mention has a vast variety of sea life. As for the whale portion, you may see humpbacks or you may see orcas. You may see both or you may see none but I'd say you probably have a good chance of seeing one or the other. The otters are abundant and adorable. frugaltravel Posted September 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 22, 2013 You really need to lower your expectations for seeing bubblenet feeding. It is rarely seen. As was said, mostly tails and fins.
