kat4282 Posted September 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 25, 2013 Did anyone eat on/near West Bay beach? Any good lunch options? Thank you :)
marvlgirl Posted September 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2013 We ate stuff from a vendor off the beach. We probably ate stuff that was made in someone's kitchen. It was awesome! Definitely try local food. We do in every port we've been to and never regretted it. Even the time we were in St. kitts when it looked a little sketchy lol
Rare crewsweeper Posted September 26, 2013 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2013 Directly across the main road from Banarama (end of their driveway) is Celeste's serving inexpensive bleadas (Honduran empandas) with many different kinds of fillings, chicken, seafood, etc.). kat4282 Posted September 26, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted September 26, 2013 Awesome, thank you both! I'm so hesitant to eat, don't want to get sick, so I try and go by recommendations vs. completely blind.
AllAmericanAmy Posted October 2, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 2, 2013 Awesome, thank you both! I'm so hesitant to eat, don't want to get sick, so I try and go by recommendations vs. completely blind. Well, here's a GREAT tip for you then... Have everyone in your group take a Pepto Bismol tablet an hour or so before eating. We did this while spending 3 weeks in the Amazon rainforest eating "sketchy" stuff and the only time anyone got a tummy problem is when they FORGOT to take their pill! I read it "coats" the stomach & intestines and helps prevent issues. This does NOT mean go crazy and throw all caution to the wind! lol Just a travel tip we use when we go overseas and are eating different foods, etc and has always served us well. YMMV :D Have fun! cruisingbandmom Posted October 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2013 We ate baleadas near the beach. No tummy problems for us. If you can find him on the beach the banana donut guy is a must.
