MTL=CRUISEFAMILY Posted October 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 9, 2013 From Seatrader Insider site:http://www.seatrade-insider.com/news/news-headlines/msc-divina-has-new-shows-activities-outdoor-movies-for-caribbean-cruises.html MSC Divina is adding main-stage musical productions, a talent competition, poolside movies and a Calypso band, enrichment programs and youth activities for its Caribbean deployment from Miami, starting in November. Performers include Scott Record, singing comedy impressionist, and comedic magician Levent, who combines comedy and sleight of hand. Acts in the Jazz Bar’s new 'Dueling Pianos' show include Van and Keith, Dueling Pianos Forte, who combine comedy and rock 'n’ roll, and Michael and Amy Pickering, who mix varied musical genres with humor. Keeping to its Mediterranean heritage, MSC Divina will continue to stage current shows such as 'Traviata,' a presentation of Giuseppe Verdi’s celebrated opera, and 'Sogno Italiano,' a tribute to popular Italian music. Other shows include the high-energy 'Starwalker, a tribute to the 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson, and 'Billy Bones,' inspired by the movie 'Pirates of the Caribbean.' First-run films and special programming will be projected throughout the day and evening on the pool deck's new, large outdoor screen. Popular movies, sporting events such as NFL football including the playoffs and the Super Bowl, NCAA Basketball, NBA Finals, MLB Playoffs and the World Cup will also be broadcast. A Calypso band, Trio Caribe, will perform on the pool deck. Among the new enrichment programs added to the Caribbean sailings are expert-led stargazing and astronomy classes, wine tastings, mixology classes, culinary demonstrations, Mediterranean jewelry-making, daily dance classes, Mediterranean cooking classes and language lessons to learn key Italian phrases. MSC Cruises' on-going theme nights include 'Little Italy,' 'Flower Glory Party,' 'Carnival Night,' 'Hollywood Stars' and 'Romance Night.' In the Black & White Lounge, passengers can take part in 'MSC Factor,' a twist on the television talent competition. MSC Divina also offers a 4-D Theater featuring a 3-D movie with sights, sounds and seat movement, and a Formula 1 race car simulator. Children can participate in the newly launched Smurf-themed programs, and a Smurf mascot will host family events such as the Smurfs Family Disco, the Smurfs Live Talent Show and Smurfs Master Chef, a cooking demonstration led by the head pastry chef. For teens, MSC Divina provides signature events and new activities such as the Teen White Party (a take on MSC Cruises’ deck party), a prom and a flash mob dance workshop. During the ship's three-night cruises on Nov. 20 and Dec. 7, special entertainment is booked in the form of fireworks and a performance by ABBA musical tribute group Abbacadabra. What does MSC do for these "parties"? Thanks Barbara On our last MSC cruise, they had a Carnival night, it has to do more with the activities that surround the theme, for example the animation team dressed up in Carnival attire, and they chose a few guests to join them (ahead of time) In the lounge it was, as described a Carnival Party, think masks, robes, colorful jesters ...and yes, lots of fun. The daily program advised if anyone wanted to dress accordingly, most did not, preferring to just join in the festivities as is. Really seems that MSC is gearing up and addressing to the US tastes. Wearing a FunShip Freddie T shirt might get you on dish duty...:D But seriously, what we missed on our US cruises was just that, the animation team on MSC really involve guests to get up and have some fun.
