canuckcruiselover Posted October 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2013 We have been invited to attend a complimentary VIP Beach BBQ in Playa Mia, Cozumel on our upcoming Oasis cruise. It sounds good (nice BBQ and host bar) but I don't have much information about it. As this is, apparently, the 3rd Annual event, I'm wondering whether anyone on CC has been and what it's like. We've been to Cozumel a few times but never to Playa Mia.

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted October 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2013 WOW! How do you get to be a VIP on Oasis? Is it a Crown and Anchor thing, a gambling high roller thing or is it something else?
canuckcruiselover Posted October 16, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted October 16, 2013 WOW! How do you get to be a VIP on Oasis? Is it a Crown and Anchor thing, a gambling high roller thing or is it something else? I'm not a VIP on Oasis but I am a member of Club Royale. I mostly play video poker at $5 a hand -- not what I would consider a high roller. I do spend several hours every evening in the casino.I received the VIP invitation and a free Oasis trip, too, which was a real surprise since our last cruise a couple of months ago was on the Majesty for only 3 nights and I didn't play that much. However, I did get a Royal Flush on Video Poker on the last night. The casino host and other staff members flocked around me asking when I would like to take my next cruise. "Give me a free Oasis cruise and I'll be there" said I and lo and behold!

rodandhope Posted October 18, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 18, 2013 You will have a great time. Our last cruise was this trip last year. We went B2B on Jewel and hit the BBQ twice. Good food and good drink. Some of the casino staff will go, and someone was there from corporate. Very fun time. We weren't planning on going this year, but I've heard that the rebates expire after one year. Is this true? If so, we may go on the Liberty so that we can get the rebate from last year. We were only offered 1/2 off on Oasis, but free 4 or 5 day on Liberty.

All the offers/rebates from Club Royale are supposed to expire after a year but we used ours one time after 16 months or so and it was accepted. xtex Posted September 1, 2015 #9 Share Posted September 1, 2015 Went last year on the Serenade and had a blast with the other members and the staff. Going again on Liberty this December. Wouldn't miss it. You meet in the casino and they bus you to the beach. Once there it is all free food, drinks, whatever. Painless, easy... great fun.
