Calkacky Posted October 14, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2013 I'm not sure if this is the best place or if I should be posting it it the Disabilities section, so I'm posting it in both places. I'm cruising in December and am planning on going to Paradise Beach while in Cozumel. One of the members in our party is in a wheelchair. Is it going to be difficult for him to get around there in his chair? Thanks!
RubyDog08 Posted October 14, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2013 I'm not sure about that specific excursion, but I do know that wheelchairs and sand do not mix. If your friend is in an power chair, the sand will wreck the gears, and manual chairs sink. There is a "beach wheelchair" that is made and it works great. Some cruise ports have them, and others don't. They have very large wheels that do not sink into the sand. If your excursion has areas with concrete pathways, you friend should be fine. I hope all of you have a great time! :)
Calkacky Posted October 14, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted October 14, 2013 Thanks. I will send PB an email about these sand chairs and see if they have them.
