Anchorage and Seward lodging

I'm looking for anyone that has any information - pro or con - about the Van Gilder Hotel in Seward or about the Oscar Gill House B&B in Anchorage.

In Seward, we stayed at the Ballaine House @ 437 Third Ave., I highly recommend it. Was recommended on Frommers.com .

 

Very nicely decorated, has anything you might want for breakfast. Plus Marlee the host, will help you with reservations and pick up.

I am booked at the Van Gilder in Seward for Aug 5th, at the end of our cruise. When are you going? I can let you know what I think after we stay there...

Thanks Twin Cities!! We are not going until June 06, so I am just getting info on what is available at this point. We like smaller places with more "personality" than the large chain hotels, so I would love to hear your feedback!! I did a search for the Van Gilder on this board and didn't find anything. Have a great trip when you go!

The Van Gilder is located downtown and is on the National Historic Registery.They remodeled last year and looks reaL nice. Some stay there for the "haunted hotel" as ghosts have been seen.
