Costs of Med v Carib Cruises?

Recommended Posts

Can anyone explain why Sea Dream's Mediterranean cruises are so much more expensive than its cruises in the Caribbean? When checking Seabourn site, there is much less of a cost differential between the Seabourn's Med/Carib 7 day cruises. Additionally the the Seabourn Med cruises are generally substantially less costly (7 days and similiar ports) than the Sea Dream Med cruises. The two lines are much closer in rate in the Caribbean cruises. I know the USD is down v. the Euro, but it should affect the cruise lines the same. And as we've been pricing a Greek/Turkish isles cruise - the price differential is significant enough to route us to Seabourn and not Sea Dream.

Thanks

I suspect that SDYC has less trouble filling the Med cruises and more difficulty filling the Caribbean sailings. Supply and demand ...

Agreed. If you really want to put the per diem notion to bed, check out the super low fares for transatlantic voyages.
