Coral Princess Plaza deck

Looking for comments on the Coral Princess Plaza deck. We are planning an Alaskan cruise in August 2014 and opting for an Oceanview room versus balcony. Hard decision but we wanted to save money for excursions. The last time we went to Alaska - about 10 years ago - we stayed on Dolphin deck all the way forward.

Who can tell me anything about these Plaza deck cabins?

They are wonderful and close to everything! We love the Plaza deck and book it when we can! We had a balcony on our Alaska cruise and we did not feel we used it enough for the price difference. We spent the majority of our times up on deck with the naturalist. You will love that Plaza deck! Spend the money you saved on a good whale watching trip - do not use Princess - go with an independent in Juneau - was the highlight of our trip!

We've cruised in a Plaza deck oceanview on a 3 day coastal repo on the Coral and a 14 day Panama Canal full transit on the Island. For our Canal cruise a balcony was $600 more than our cabin. We spent $200 of that and booked the Sanctuary for the full cruise. For the Canal full transit, I suggest the LA to FLL route if you want shade in the Sanctuary. I feel that the Plaza deck oceanviews on the Coral and Island are in a great location. It is a short walk forward to the Princess Plaza and the stairs/elevators. You have easy access to the DRs on Plaza and Fiesta deck, shops, casino and IC on Fiesta deck, Crooners on Promenade deck and the library and internet cafe on Emerald deck. It is a short walk aft to the stairs/elevators. You have easy access to the Universe Lounge and Explorers Lounge on Fiesta deck and the Bayou Cafe on Promenade deck. We used the stairs to get to all of those locations. The only remote locations are the pools and HC on the Lido deck and the Sanctuary. The cabins aren't large. If the room is set up with the twin bed arrangement there is a good open space in the middle, but it is tighter in the queen configuration. The head of the beds is at the window. There is a large mirror opposite the window. If you lay in bed with the drapes open, you can watch the waves. We enjoyed the location very much for those two cruises.
