We were in Copenhagen for a few days pre-cruise. We took a wonderful Jewish walking tour with Charlotte Thalmay. (jewish-copenhagen.dk) She was quite flexible and gave us good insight into life in Copenhagen as well as a Jewish history in the city. She was quite pleasant and made our stay more interesting. We also took a hop-on-hop-off boat ride. That worked out well to get us to different parts of the city. For us, Tivoli was a waste of time and money. It just wasn't our thing. Copenhagen is a lovely city and it's definitely worth spending a few days there. People are friendly and helpful.

Copenhagen is truly a remarkable city. It is very easy to do on your own and see all the major sites. We also did a walking tour and at a very leisurely pace, we saw everything in about 5-6 hours, with stopping for the Canal Boat tour which is about an hour. If you write to the Copenhagen Tourist office, they will send you wonderful things. Mention you are on a cruise and would love to do a walking tour of the city. Also Rick Steve's has some great walking tours.

Here are a few pixs of Copenhagen. Most are in a 2 mile radius of each other.

If you ship docks at Langeline you are within minutes of Copenhagen's most visited attraction, the Little Mermaid statue

Walking along from there, you will come to the Nyhavn section. This is a most colorful area where you can (and should) do the canal boat tour.

From the boat you will go thru the canals of Copenhagen and get a terrific different perspective of the city

If you so desire you can visit the Royal Palace and if you time it right you can watch the changing of the guard ceremony

You can now walk to the main square in the city, where Tivoli Gardens is. This is also where the Town hall is

Many people also like to visit Rosenborg Castle, where you can tour and view the crown jewels.

You will have a marvelous time in this wonderful city

Cheers
