maxydu Posted October 23, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 23, 2013 Just read on a roll call that the bay was full of seaweed and to avoid going there. It was beautiful last Dec. 2012. Anyone been there recently who can advise the current condition? Headed that way in Nov. Thanks
valentinebaby1 Posted October 23, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 23, 2013 We were just in St Kitts a few weeks ago. We didn't go to Cockleshell Beach, we were at South Friars Beach though, and seaweed wasn't an issue there at all. Snorkeling was good, hubby even found a couple pretty large conch shells and sand dollars while further out snorkeling.
Caronrick Posted October 23, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 23, 2013 You may be better served by asking this as well in teh St Kitts Port of Call Forum here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=428 As well, you have already asked this in a post. I am sure it was an accidental double post so you can alwasy as a mod to delete the other one for you.
maxydu Posted October 24, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted October 24, 2013 I figured most folks would realize that it was an accidental double post and there was no need to contact a moderator. Thanks for the suggestion though
abisha Posted October 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2013 St. Kitts is one of my favorite islands...so clean and not a blade of grass out of place! We took a city tour and then the driver dropped us off at the Carambola beach club (I think the beach was Frigate??), but it was right out of a Coors Beer commercial. The setting was perfect and the beach was gorgeous! The mountains were in the foreground and we could see Nevis. The beach club restaurant (where you enter) is contemporary and posh..with beautiful colors and sunk in living room surrounded by gorgeous flower arrangements.. We didn't eat in the restaurant or sit at the bar but we walked right through it and out onto the beach. They had wooden loungers (an attendant came over to bring comfy cushions for us...$3 each), and the canvas umbrella was $5...so very reasonable. It was not crowded at all and I even collected some nice shells along the break of the waves. We didn't want to leave! We said we'd go there again in a heartbeat next time we go to St. Kitts. I heard cockleshell isnt as nice. Anyways, if you google Carambola beach club, you can get the idea. Also, it's not far from the pier.
agc291 Posted October 25, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 25, 2013 There could have easily been a storm recently that caused this.
