OBC What are my restrictions?

For an upcoming cruise we have $200 in onboard credit (OBC). $100 is shareholder benefit and the other $100 is from a Next Cruise certificate.

I understand the the shareholder portion cannot be used for tips charged to the onboard account. No issues there, I'm sure we can find something to buy :-) But I am wondering what other restrictions there might be, especially on the Next Cruise portion. I presume that all of this OBC is use it or lose it and that it will apply to charges for merchandise, beverages and shore excursions, and that none of the credit can be used for casino chips. Can anyone correct me if I'm wrong?

I'm all checked out out on RCL OBC rules, but am new to the Carnival way of doing things!

The shareholder benefit document states "This benefit is not transferable and cannot be used for casino credits/charges and gratuities charged to your onboard account."

Now it's possible that a) the previous poster was under an older set of rules, b) they weren't supposed to but did anyway, c) the daily service charge is not considered a gratuity but a "service charge", or d) ????

Mainly though, I'm interested in knowing if there any any other restrictions other than what's noted in the first sentance? Sounds like there are no other restrictions, though I suspect this is a use it or lose it credit although it's not specifically stated in the offer.

On our Dream cruise last November we had a significant amount of OBC from price drops, as well as a future cruise certificate. The other couple we traveled with had the same. We were told by guest services that it was use it or lose it. My wife and I had close to $600 OBC, the other couple had about $450. My wife and I spent that OBC money like it didn't mean nothin' :D I even bought a pair of Dolce and Gabana sunglasses  (on clearance, got a great deal!), she bought a Guess handbag and wallet. She and I spent every penny. The other couple with us didn't use all of theirs and got a check under their door on the last night for the reaminder, around $250. My wife and I were a little miffed that we didn't have to spend it all and could have gotten a refund, but hey we had a great time spending like high rollers  And I'm still enjoying those sunglasses, and she has about worn that hand bag out. So all that said, I don't know what the exact rules are but that's my experience.

ETA: There are no restrictions on what you can spend it on, presumably other than gratuities, we shopped, drank, and ate in the Steakhouse twice.

Some OBC is refundable and some is not. On my last cruise we had both. The non-refundable was used first, but what was confusing is that the non-refundable did not show on our folio when we look at it on the interactive TV. It was seen on the printed out folio that was picked up at the kiosk. The cruise was taken this past October on the Conquest, so things may have changed.
