Costa club member - pricing

I just checked prices for a random week in March -

If I DONT log in to my CC membership account, the price is nearly £700 cheaper.

As follows: The first option shows my pricing as a logged in CC member -

The second - I entered my data to check applicable discount after the price was offered.

What a stupid system..

Now I know when checking prices to double check which option to go with. I am usually logged in to Costa by default.

That is ridiculous!! Just shows loyalty doesn't pay.

 

Totally unrelated, but this reminds me of the time we were on the island of roatan in the Caribbean, on a land based holiday. One day a Princess cruise ship turned up and when we went to buy drinks a barman at the beach bar checked it we were from the cruise. Most cruise tourists actually had a wristband on to confirm they were entitled to beach lounger (so it was obvious).

 

I wondered why they needed to know. I paid him $2 and then a cruiser came up, ordered the same beer and paid $4! Then i understood.

 

Later that day we arranged a private snorkelling trip with one of the boatmen....

 

'How much' we asked?

He asked us: 'are you from the cruise ship'?

'No'

'so it's $25 each'

'and if were from the cruise ship?'

'$75 each'

 

I understand why they do it. We were there 7 days in a backpacker hotel, spent loads of money in the local economy. The cruise ship tourists simply don't spend much. Backpackers would simply not pay the prices they were charging the richer tourists.

Hey Blondie - does the first quote include your service charges - and the second quote doesn't - that could be the difference - you know what Costa are like for that :eek: Frights for all the unsuspecting at the end of the cruise.

I've noticed the price differences if you log in. Here's an extreme example:

 

What must be the cheapest cruises I've seen are the Costa Serena early December sailings.

5th December 4 night balcony cabin £99

9th December 11 night balcony cabin £199

Do it back to back as a 15 night for £298.

 

... but sign in and the prices are -

5th December 4 night balcony cabin £464.55

9th December 11 night balcony cabin £759.05

Total for 15 nights of £1223.60 what a fantastic loyalty discount!!!

but has anybody used Cruise Nation to book their cruise?
