samzgirl84 Posted November 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 11, 2013 We are sailing out of San Juan, Puerto Rico at 10 pm. When would the boarding time be? (Please give me idea of the earliest time and a late time)
MarriedInStThomas1807 Posted November 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 11, 2013 The last time we did this cruise we were able to board by noon. Can't wait to go out of San Juan again!
w4kry Posted November 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 11, 2013 we are looking at doing this cruise in 2015. I'm already searching for hotels.
SunshineBooks8 Posted November 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 11, 2013 we boarded around 1200 or so on our last cruise out of PR.. 2011 I believe. Hotels: I recommend Caleta 64 (especially the Adoquin room). It's not far from the port at all.. http://caleta64.com/adoquin.htm We stayed there for 3 days post cruise and had a fabulous time. Or, Marriott Stellaris is a popular option. We stayed there for 2 days prior to the cruise and it was a fun spot.
FlyingCruiserNJ Posted November 11, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 11, 2013 Yes, boarding for a 2200 departure from SJU is the same as for an early departure. We did that in 9/2012 for the eastern caribbean sailing. Great itinerary btw. They have you board and treat it just like a normal cruise. The first night is ATD for everyone in the mdr and sailaway is in the dark, at night. I didn't like it too much. But plan to be there same time as always as you paid for that full day on the ship so get onboard asap. FlyingCruiserNj

lovely2153 Posted November 11, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 11, 2013 We stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel in San Juan before our cruise last April. They have a stay and cruise package which includes the transfer to the port. http://embassysuites3.hilton.com/en/hotels/puerto-rico/embassy-suites-san-juan-hotel-and-casino-SJUESES/index.html

That's the first hotel I have seen in San Juan that offers shuttle service to the port.
larkz Posted November 11, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 11, 2013 If I recall correctly, after arriving early and getting quickly through the initial boarding process, we were in the waiting area until about 12:45 pm before they let us on board the ship. I'm not sure what the delay was. This was December of last year (before Victory was replaced with Valor).

kingoftheicedragons Posted November 11, 2013 #12 Share Posted November 11, 2013 On our cruise out of San Juan, you could check in starting at about 10:45. They didn't start boarding until just about noon. RE: about the comment about Embassy Suite's shuttle to the port, while you may need this (especially if there are walking/mobility concerns with your party, or you have more luggage than what your party can manage on its own), most of Old San Juan is completely walkable, and you can easily get to port on your own. We stayed at the Hotel Milano which is more centrally located in OSJ and could get to the port with a 10-15 minute walk.

Jennifer925 Posted March 26, 2015 #17 Share Posted March 26, 2015 We boarded March 1...we stayed at the Sheraton hotel and casino at the convention center...it was wonderful! Spent the morning into early afternoon at conado beach...got to port around 2, got right through, no line at all!! We were held up for a few short minutes because the gentleman in front of us didn't follow instructions when he was told to remove EVERYTHING from his pockets before entering the metal detectors!! Room was ready right away we dropped our bags off and went exploring in San Juan til 730, cafe Puerto Rico had fabulous monfongo! And it's right near the forts...beautiful city!'
