wantocruisemore Posted November 21, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2013 Due to our short port day we may be revising our plans and do ruins/cave tubing in Belize and snorkeling in Costa maya. My guess is the best snorkeling is out from shore on the other side of the reef. Has anyone done this and can recommend private companies to take out by boat? We rather not do the cruise ship excursion for snorkeling due to the numbers and fins in the face.
thescot123 Posted November 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 27, 2013 i have done snorkeling in Costa Maya. The best way to do this is to take a $3 pp taxi down to Mahahual. It is a nice village on the beach with a lot of bars, snorkeling companies etc. I did my snorkeling via the Tropicante. This is a restaurant on the beach with excellent food, cheap drink and great beach views. The owner Steve Uhl can arrange your snorkeling which is done from a boat that takes you to a nearby reef. It costs about $25 for 1 hour. Check his website out. http://www.sandalsandskis.com/Tropicante.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahahual

How was the snorkeling compared with some other places? How was the seagrass in front of Tropicante?
