maighdeanmhara Posted November 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2013 I'm trying to figure out how much cash to bring along for our trip. We paid for the excursion already (so transport and entrance are covered), but how much should I plan to spend on drinks for 3 people, 2 meals (DS & I share) and a couple souvenirs for our boys? Thank you!
Capt_BJ Posted November 24, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) http://www.turtle.ky/ the turtle farm does not post a menu for their café but here's a typical one for a popular place http://sunsethouse.com/images/Menus/Restaurant%20Snack%20Menu%20Nov%20%2010%208_5X11%202011.pdf A hamburger $8 fish and chips $10.50 soft drink $2 Caybrew Draft Pint $5.50 can o' Bud $4 NOTE prices will be in Cayman Dollars (CI) The fixed exchange rate you'll get on the street is $1 CI = $1.20 US or your $1 US is only 80 cents CI or your US $20 is $16 CI so the $8 CI hamburger is $10 US (plus tip ... altho often this is ALSO automatic so check) US $ is accepted 'everywhere' as is US plastic. I never carry anything larger than $20's {Cayman currency is pretty and small bills make nice souv's} **************nothing in Cayman is inexpensive**************** Suggestion - do not buy any turtle products available for sale at the farm. Importing to the US ANYTHING from sea turtles is illegal. Edited November 24, 2013 by Capt_BJ
Colorado Kat Posted November 25, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2013 Grand Cayman is a pricey island. Take more cash than you think you will need.
