Grand Lucayan or Balmoral?

We just came back from Grand Lucayan and I highly recommend it! Can't say about Balmoral, since we've never been.

We were there on Thanksgiving. Had a great time. I'd highly recommend it. We had 15 of us and all really enjoyed it.

Was hoping Balmoral would be a great excursion... but alas it has a lot of kinks to it. a 4-5 hour beach trip includes about an hour to 1 1/2 hours for trip over/back and about a 20 minute walk from the pier outside the ship to the "ferries". IT DOES NOT leave from the ship... you have to leave the port area and go in town a bit before Senor Frogs. Water is $4 for a 16 oz bottle and drinks are in the $10 range, all on your SS card.

 

It is a nice beach, with a pool that's salt water... Fresh water showers (outdoor) are available. Food and bathrooms are a bit out of the way but are there.

 

I would not recommend it as of now... maybe next year it will be better.

BTW Sandals has half of the same island, is about a 10 minute ferry ride from the Sandals on Cable Beach PLUS free food/drinks. That's included in the $110 pp for the day at Sandals... may be trying this next May.

Was at Grand Lucayan in Sept and loved it. the beach, chairs, pools, hot tubs and hammocks. It was great for the price. Right across the street is the straw market to shop :)
