Taste of Cayman on your own

Hello all,

NCL has a "taste of Cayman" excursion that goes to Caybrew, 7 Fathoms Rum and Tortuga Rum Cakes. Is this doable on your own via bus/taxi? Thanks in advance!

We went to the Caybrew brewery last week and it was fun. Don't know about the other stops. We stopped in the office for tourism at the pier and talked to a terrific lady about taking the local bus. It was very easy to do, clean, safe, and cheap to do. We walked a block to the library (city bus center). Told the bus coordinator in the little booth that we wanted the brewery and he put us on the right bus (small van). He told us to just tell the driver and pay $2.50 per person. About a 10-15 minute ride. Tour was $6 and we each got 5 small beers. Loved the White Tip! Then we walked out and waited 5 minutes and waved at a bus who stopped and took us back to the library. Just look for BLUE license plates. We had a great time.

Your thread title immediately brought to mind our annual Taste of Cayman food and wine festival which is immensely popular. The festival date for next year is Saturday Feb 8, 2014.

 

Any lucky passengers visiting Cayman aboard the Coral Princess on that date might want to take advantage of the occasion for a special treat. As the only ship in port that day they will only have to contend with some hungry island resident and hotel guests.
