Mlong2004 Posted December 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 2, 2013 We leave Thursday on Fascination. We have 7 teens/older kids in our party. I am wondering how I will keep up with their room keys and sail cards. Does Camp Carnival give lanyards to them? Any ideas?
flucocruiser Posted December 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 2, 2013 I didn't get a lanyard when I went on my first I had to buy one at the fun shops
Mlong2004 Posted December 2, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Can I punch a hole in the cards so I can string them on a lanyard...and not have to get the pouch kind?
Chooch72 Posted December 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Can I punch a hole in the cards so I can string them on a lanyard...and not have to get the pouch kind? I think the casino or guest services can punch the hole but it has been a while since I have been on a ship.... Can anyone back this up or correct me? :D
flucocruiser Posted December 2, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Yeah they do punch your card at guest services but I don't know about the casino I was under 18.
MichelleChell Posted December 2, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Go to Home Depot or Walmart. Buy lanyards to bring. Much cheaper then on the ship. Go to guest services with cards and they will punch a hole in them.
jimw Posted December 2, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Lanyards have been free at the service desk in the casino where they also will punch your Sail and Spend cards, as the DW calls them...........I prefer the stretchy kind from the casino. kcwingwalker Posted December 2, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 2, 2013 How do the kids feel about lanyards? Mine would have flat out refused.
Mlong2004 Posted December 2, 2013 Author #9 Share Posted December 2, 2013 The kids won't have much choice. I am not carrying their cards around for them. My philosophy is ... you want a room key and a sail card, keep up with it. LOL! Thanks for all the responses. Trying to do as much damage control as possible before we get on the ship on Thursday. TMBLAIR41 Posted December 3, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 3, 2013 My older teens wanted the lanyards... I just send them to the shop to get themselves.. This time I have kept them and they are packed for January :)
Colorado Kat Posted December 3, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 3, 2013 If you pop by the casino right away, there will be lanyards in some of the slot machines, free for the taking. Either the Casino, or Guest Services can punch the S&S cards.
ForSharonB Posted December 3, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 3, 2013 We leave Thursday on Fascination. We have 7 teens/older kids in our party. I am wondering how I will keep up with their room keys and sail cards. Does Camp Carnival give lanyards to them? Any ideas? As others have said, we always get them from the casino also. Have a great time. Btw, soon I'm also cruising with 7 teens/college kids too (14, 19x3, 20, 21, 22). Please let me know if you have any words of wisdom!!:-). Enjoy!! happybooker1 Posted December 3, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 3, 2013 My son looped his through his belt loop & then through itself. Then the card goes in the pocket, to be whipped out at a moments notice & slid through whatever. Looks cool & doesn't get lost. And pfffft on buying lanyards on the ship. Hit up Dollar General or the dollar stores!
SadieN Posted December 3, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 3, 2013 At the casino - Make sure the kids cards are punched before they have the club sticker on them. We once had an issue. After DD18 lost here card within the first 30 minutes onboard she has to have it on a lanyard. Usually not around her neck but thru her belt loop or purse. FWIW I have just used the clip part of the casino lanyard to attach the card to my belt loop.
mandis Posted December 3, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 3, 2013 We bring our own hole punch. My daughter 12/15 have their own lanyards they bought at Hot Topic they use for their cards. My husband and I both use lanyards too. It is just easier.
bluerose1515 Posted December 3, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Make sure you have them punch a hole in it. I have already purchased mine and my cousins for our trip in May and bought ones that fit our personality so we know who's is who when we go to grab them each morning. So if you get the chance to have their own or buy a plain one and have each of them decorate them, themselves. It would be a fun pre-cruise project :). Enjoy your trip
candigirl Posted December 3, 2013 #18 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Teens use lanyards for all sorts of things...mainly their car keys. They probably already have a few. Definitely the best way to keep track of your keys. I don't think they would like the stretchy ones from the casino though. Leaving in 11 days and my son is just taking the one normally attached to his keys. With your group, I think I would definitely take my own hole punch. Have fun. bethm214 Posted December 3, 2013 #19 Share Posted December 3, 2013 You can get them from the casino but they will all look alike. I make personalized beaded stretchy lanyards. I take 5 or 6 with me on cruises to match my outfits. You could either have the kids make theirs before they go, or, contact me to have some made for the kids to meet their desires. cbCRR Posted December 3, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 3, 2013 My teens and I prefer the plastic spiral stretchy key holders. My teens like wearing them on their ankles, I wear on my wrist. I got them at Walmart. I think they were about $3.50 for a pack of 6 (blue, pink, green & brown). Found in the office supply area with key tags and ID clips. jay49307 Posted December 3, 2013 #21 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Guest services and the casino will punch a hole in the cards for you. Free lanyards from the casino also. Enjoy your cruise
YubaSutter Posted December 3, 2013 #22 Share Posted December 3, 2013 If you pop by the casino right away, there will be lanyards in some of the slot machines, free for the taking. Either the Casino, or Guest Services can punch the S&S cards. Casino does not have lanyards. They have a coil tether thing.
near the beach Posted December 3, 2013 #23 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Free lanyards from the casino are the way to go if you like lanyards. They usually have blue or red. Sometimes they have both. They are plastic and water proof. If one gets stretched out too far or broken. You can get another one for free. You can purchase them in the ship gift shop. You get one if you do the behind the scenes tour. Some photo shops have free lanyards also.
Mlong2004 Posted December 3, 2013 Author #24 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Thanks for all of the great information. We will definitely be using lanyards. I cannot trust my kids to keep up with a card that looks like the other 5000 cards on board. Thx again.
