mish2g Posted December 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2013 We are set to sail on 12/22 on the NCL Star. I'm considering bringing our Britax B-Ready since it functions as a tandem double for my 2 yr old and 5 mos old. Do you think it'll be too wide to maneuver around the ship?? Should we just suck it up and bring 2 separate strollers?
giselleacttwo Posted December 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 3, 2013 Your biggest problem is likely to be in the hallways when housekeeping carts are present. We had a First Years Jet stroller which is a basic umbrella stroller. It was almost too large to fit past carts, but we did squeak by. According to Amazon its dimensions are 30 x 19 x 39.5 inches and the B-ready is 40.8 x 26.5 x 45 inches. If that is accurate, I think those extra 7.5 inches of width are going to make it really hard to get around.

Waterloomarc Posted December 10, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 10, 2013 I've been wondering the same thing as we have the same stroller (and a 6mo old too) I've read a number of posts here about the City Mini being a success on cruises and it is almost identical to the Britax so I'm thinking it will be okay. I'm leaving on January 6th so how about posting when you get back ;) I was on the Star last year and had a great cruise. Found the ship a good size for us. mish2g Posted January 1, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted January 1, 2014 (edited) Bump to see what you went with on the cruise. Did you take the Britax? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Hi! Yes, I took my Britax B-Ready. It was a good option for a double, however, the rear wheels are wide, so it would not fit through the cabin door while open. We'd have to park and unload with it in the hallway, fold it up, and then bring it in. We had the luxury of having 2 rooms (connecting window rooms), so we had ample space to store it, the chair, and the car seat. I cannot imaging having this stroller with only one room. We rarely used it as a double, though, since my son wanted to do "open sesame" with the elevator the whole time. Had I known we'd be so lenient with his independence, I would have brought the snap n go instead. Much easier to use and less cumbersome than the b-ready. Glad we had the double option, though. As far as maneuvering by the housekeeping carts, we had rooms 5102 and 5016. Our steward parked the cart between our rooms, so we always let from 5106 to avoid the cart. We would not have been able to drive the stroller past the cart if we had to, but we were so close to the end of our hallway and the elevator that it wasn't an issue. Waterloomarc Posted January 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Great. Thanks for responding! We're leaving Saturday to head to our cruise. We're not far down the hall either so I'm not too concerned about the housekeeping carts. That said, I guess I'm a little nervous now. I don't want to be "those people" with the gigantic stroller. The main reason I wanted to take it (besides the fact it's all we own) is because it's sturdy enough to stand up on its own with the diaper bag hooked on to it and I thought it would be handy in port to have the storage (I see people around with umbrella strollers falling over when they take their baby out) I really don't see us using it much on ship. And secondly because it fully reclines and has a big sunshade if DD wants to sleep while we're out. Prior to having a baby I never knew how stressful all these decisions can be and I consider myself a gadget junkie! Don't even get me started on the agony of baby monitors ;) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mish2g Posted January 1, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted January 1, 2014 I think you'll be fine with the stroller. You won't be the only one. And, yes, storage was fab!! We actually brought our monitor with us and I thought it was amazing. Again, we had the 2 rooms, so we actually had reason for it. I only wish it was able to reach different floors so we could have left the kids in the room while we went out. Lol...
Waterloomarc Posted January 26, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 26, 2014 I guess I should update with my experience too in case somebody finds this thread down the road. We took our Britax on the CCL Fascination and didn't have any trouble with it. As mentioned it is too wide to fit through the cabin door (barely, literally maybe 1/4" too wide but if it doesn't fit it doesn't matter!). So we loaded up in the hall. I didn't find this all that inconvenient but some others might. We were able to fit past housekeeping carts in the hallway pretty easily actually. As for storage we just folded it up and it fit nicely under the bed. We never used it on the ship at all except walking to the gangway to get off in port. It worked great it port and I'm glad we chose to bring it rather than buy another stroller. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
EviesCruisin Posted January 27, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Hi - too late to help OP but in case it helps others. We had britax b ready on NCL Dawn (sister ship). It was fine on ship but a pain for tender ports. And you had to fold it to get through the door, which sucked if you had a sleeping one.
