jaded99 Posted December 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2013 We booked under a Casino rate that is no longer offered, and are having room location regret. We asked our new PVP to keep us informed of any good upgrade deals, but she didn't think there would be any on this particular cruise. We are after final payment, and I was just wondering if it's possible to switch to another cabin in the same category without re-booking? Before I call the PVP I wanted to know if such a thing is possible. I know to select a different category, we'd have to pay the difference between what we actually paid and what the room we want costs now, but if we keep the same category, would we still have to pay the difference between what we booked at and what it costs now? It's about $700 higher now so obviously if that's the case we'll just keep what we have...

Since you are still about 6 weeks from sailing, it might be possible depending on availability of 2 person cabins (assuming there are 2 of you going). This sounds like one of those questions where the answer will depend on who answers your call and whether they have a helping attitude. I think it is possible to change cabins without changing categories or paying a fee. I'd call the 800 number and ask, and if you don't get the answer you're looking for, call back and try again. You might want to go online and pick out a cabin that you want in your current category, and call and ask for that specific cabin. Good luck. Come back and let us know how it goes. mickide Posted December 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 10, 2013 This was an oops! My first message was an oops...but on this topic... There are 4 of us going on the Inspiration in January. We all signed up as solo cruisers so we would have our own cabins. The one that signed up last had to sign up for a TBA cabin or pay $120 more. Yesterday I noticed the Holiday sale rate was the same as what she paid and you could pick your cabin, so I emailed our PVP and asked if he could change her rate so she would be able to get the adjoining cabin with one of the other ladies. Took a minute or two and it was done! So, while we didn't change cabins (went from TBA to assigned), it was after final payment and we were still allowed to do it. golfadj Posted December 11, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2013 Call but you might have a problem as you booked the casino rate. Nothing to lose though.
Carnival_Brides Posted December 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2013 You may be fine as long as it's in the same cabin category. We grabbed a porthole cabin that suddenly became available when we booked our last cruise (three weeks prior to sailing). The original cabin wasn't in the most desirable location (very, very front of the ship), so when a different one closer to the mid-ship became available we jumped on it. We called the Carnival 800# and the customer service agent was able to switch us in at no cost (the rates had gone up between booking and switching) because it was the same cabin category.
