Currencies Issues

I hope someone out there can help us out with some money questions.

Now that we know about the "hidden" charges for using credit cards, does anyone have any information as to easy it is to use Travelers Checks in other countries. OR... would you suggest just having euros in countries accepting those, and local currencies in the other countries.

Our bank here in Chicago will exchange monies for us at a very low surcharge rate and we were wondering if it would be worth it???

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

Marsha

Unless you plan on making major purchases abroad, for the sake of convenience and "safety", just consider the extra 3% as "cover charge", and use your credit card to get euros or whatever currency in the easily available ATM machines on shore as needed!

We have never used travelers checks.. currency or credit card is just easier.

Have seen people trying to use travelers checks at stores and not being able to, as many shops expect to see passports as ID to cash them ( and of course the ship will be holdiing your passports)..
