Southampton Christmas Traffic

We travelling down from London to Ocean Terminal next Saturday 21st to catch our cruise. Does anyone know what the traffic will be like through Southampton seeing it is the last Saturday for Christmas shopping?

Saints are not playing until the Sunday, however suspect that it will be dire with the last Saturday before Xmas day. Also there were Road works around Dock Gate 4 a few weeks ago, prepare for the worst, then if its clear you will be happy ! :D

If you head west on M27 and then follow the signs to the West Docks you will miss most of the shopping traffic, BUT the roadworks outside Dock Gate 4 are unavoidable. They may be finished by then but.....

We arrived back on QM2 last Wednesday 11th Dec and experienced severe delays getting out of the Port (Ocean Terminal) It took 75mins to get out of the CPS car park and further delays getting through to the M27. Our departure day on Nov 30th had no delays.

The roadworks are not due to finish until April. Give yourself PLENTY of time. When we embarked QM2 a couple of weeks ago at 13.00, there were still people queuing up for taxis that had disembarked that morning!

Took us 45 minutes to do the five minute drive from Novotel to ocean terminal last Wednesday, it was shocking, nobody could get in or out! No problems at all this morning when we got off though! Those roadworks are a darn nuisance I have to say...
