Using a carseat in St Maarten

We're travelling with our 7 month old and we'll have his carseat with us (the bucket type). Has anyone taken one of the cabs and used a carseat? Our plan it to go to Marigot...he's too young and fair to enjoy a beach day quite yet. We expect to pay for his seat in the cab...don't care about that, just hope the taxi is accommodating.

Cabs don't usually charge "per person"...it's the same price for one or 4/5...however many the cab will hold.

 

They will allow you to place your carseat...no worries!

I haven't used car seats in St Maartin but have in many other Caribbean ports without a problem. Do remember to tip appropriately if it takes you extra time to get the car seat installed properly :)

In St Maarten the cabs are vans and the price is per person. They just fill them and go!

We took DS's carseat and umbrella stroller with us. We always asked if the taxi had seatbelts. One exception was a trip to the beach in St. Thomas/St. John where they use those benches on a truck things. We put DS in the middle and held on! Just wait until you find a taxi that can accomodate your needs. We were in a van in St. Maarten and it did have seatbelts and A/C!
