FuninWB Posted December 25, 2013 Author #26 Share Posted December 25, 2013 I'm the OP, and yes, my doctor did end up having to treat me when we got home because the condition became chronic. He did not have codes for some of the meds used on the ship because apparently they are not commonly used in the U.S. I will call BC/BS tomorrow and see what they suggest. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
Alvarado Posted December 25, 2013 #27 Share Posted December 25, 2013 It is not much help now but buy good travel insurance (NOT Ncl) they are used to all this medical nonsense and worth there weight in gold if you miss a connection ect.
blindrid Posted December 27, 2013 #28 Share Posted December 27, 2013 When I had to utilize the ships doctor, the paperwork I was given had all the appropriate codes & my insurance paid reimbursed me for everything except my co-pay. Same here - it was on the form that the Dr's gave me when I signed for the charges.
FuninWB Posted January 6, 2014 Author #29 Share Posted January 6, 2014 I am the OP back with an update. I called NCL twice more until I finally got a rep who investigated. According to her, NCL does not use medical codes. She faxed me a letter to that effect which I have forwarded to Blue Cross. I did have travel insurance, so hopefully I will be reimbursed for at least some of the money
blindrid Posted January 28, 2014 #30 Share Posted January 28, 2014 Mine did have the codes on the original and Steve with trip insurance store took care of me. After many purchases, at least I broke even on this one - may be a sign I'm getting older.... Let us know.
