Sunshine Deck 3 Cabins

Yes, they are all new. It's in the area that used to be the Destiny's lower level of the theater before it was refurbished. But I must warn you, these rooms are directly below the theater/dance club. That means that they will be hearing the sound of the loud dance club music late into the night. If you plan on staying up very late or if you are a heavy sleeper, that won't be a problem. Otherwise, I would advise against those rooms. People who have stayed above the dance club on deck 6 have been reporting that it was very loud in their rooms. I would think that below would also get plenty of noise and/or thumping.

In case you still want one of these rooms: The obstruction is a public walkway area. Outside the window is the walkway, then the railing, then the ocean. The walkway isn't used that much at all, except for the crew using it to smoke. I would think that the more forward it is, the less likely there will be someone outside your window.

We are booked on this deck in an obstructed view cabin... wondering if any cabins are better than others..... there are still about 10 left with a view... it looks to me like the lifeboats are actually high and you can see under them. What about the very front cabins (like 3115), are they any better?

We booked 3128 for Sept 13, 2014. I can't find any reviews of these cabins. I did the click and drag deck plans, and looks like this one just misses being directly under the club. I figure it's far enough out that if I start seeing awful reviews, I can always upgrade to regular oceanview. We paid the full deposit, and it's not Early Saver, so we could even go to interior if necessary. It just looks like a nice cabin at a good deal, so I didn't want to pass it up without seeing some reviews.

We are in 3115 next month. I'll let you know if there are any issues with sound. On the layout, 3115 looks forward of all life boats. I am still wondering what might be in our view besides the boats.

Hi hawaiibound

I just got off sunshine and was in 3131. I stayed out late most nights but on the night I didn't I didn't hear too much noise except from lobby entertainment. I am looking at booking 3131 in November for a cruise. can you let me know about your experience with a room so far in the back closer to the music and stage? thanks!

Hi. Are all of the cabins on 3 for families only on the Sunshine? I am cruising solo, and none on this deck show up when I do a mock booking.

I cruised solo also, just got off a few days ago. Left husband home with business and dogs. LOL.

I think they try to get families to take them because they have more beds and sofa beds in these cabins. My room could have fit 5. not sure how I got the room. I also was in a room with my husband on deck 5 aft which I loved the location! But I cannot get a room there anymore either with mock booking, because it is also for families

I did see several families with kids on my hall on deck 3 but there were also twosomes. and me a onesome. So I think it's about timing, they open them up at a certain time to smaller numbers not just families. I really liked this location for the cost! Very convenient to getting on and off ship and guest services etc. The negative is you have to go up to 5 and across to get to back of ship where lido and restaurants are. They don't have any drink station or food on serenity deck either which is annoying cause you have to go down all these steps and trek across the deck to get anything. They need to take a page from Royal Caribbean's book and always have a drink station and snacks in adult area! Oh well.

Reviews for those cabins are in Cruise Critic. look under reviews. then click on Cabins. the get RAVE Reviews.

I stayed in one June 27-July 2015 8 days to Aruba. Curcao and Grand Turk

New Cabins. few maintenance problems. Spacious. have sofas. Basically Ocean view sold as a Inside obstructed. They are hard to get.

We heard NO noise. no one I know heard any noise. There are few cabins back there. the Ship Desk is just a few feet away. Ditto Shore desk. Restaurant we ate in was perhaps 100 feet down the hall.

LOVED that CABIN. We were on the Port Side. smokers out there but only saw a few people when ship was coming into port. View was great. You saw the Promenade but beyond that whatever was on shore

I booked a cabin just like on the Starboard side for December Christmas Cruise

There are several threads about those cabins. Click on Sunshine reviews and go back to June 2015 and check on them

I don't remember a negative review.

If you are lucky enough to be booked in those cabins..........You alread won the Sunshine Lotto.

Lifeboats....at least for 3035.............not an issue at all. they are ABOVE you on 4th deck. Your view past the Promenade is totally unblocked. And a few steps outside of your cabin and you are on the Promenade. Close to having a balcony.

Do you have to call to get these cabins? They don't seem to be shown on line for the Sunshine.

All they show are decks 6 and 7. Thanks for any info.

These are Category 4J. They're considered interior and are very popular because they have windows and are close to an outside deck. Usually they're at the very front of the ship on other ships but Sunshine has them on Deck 3 as well.

I realize this, but not one on deck 3 is showing up to book for next June.

So I'm wondering if you have to call to see if any are available on this deck.

Thanks

They block these rooms for families usually, or four guests, but if you watch them, when it gets closer to your cruise date, if they are not booked with families, they open up for less than four people, I stayed in as a single, got lucky. But they don't seem to open up till closer to cruise date so you would have to book a room and change later.

I noticed the negative you pointed out. So you had to walk up 2 flights, cross the whole deck and then take the elevator up to the Lido Deck?

Seems like a real pain to me. No one else mentioned this. Thanks for doing that.

yes, if you want to go to aft part of lido, for buffet, other restaurants even mid pool, but if you want to go to serenity deck in front of ship, you just take elevator up which is right near room and you can go up to serenity deck and get a chair. There are 3 decks for adults, one having a small freezing pool, LOL, but none of this area or decks has food, snacks, drinks, unless you go all the way to the top, I think 14 where there is one hot tub and a bar where I guess you could get water or of course a beer/drink. It would be very difficult for older people to go down the steps and trek across the deck for lunch etc. I did see someone slip, the deck is very slippery so bring crocs or rubber flip flops for lido deck traversing. When you take elevator up to serenity/lido deck from front where front rooms are on 3 look for the elevator with the triangle above it, it took me forever to figure this out, none of the other elevators go to the serenity deck they stop at 10 and unless you know to go into the elevator with the triangle you won't get there. It's all good when you figure it out, just not the easiest ship to get around for sure. But again, the only Carnival presently with all the upgraded restaurants, bars. So that is great.

We are looking at the Canada cruise so probably won't be headed up to the Serenity Deck on the way to breakfast, or any other meal for that matter.

It can be a chilly cruise where even walking across the pool deck especially in the morning is not good. I am so glad you mentioned this BIG negative to the Lobby cabins. You have been very helpful, and very much appreciated.

The cabins are often booked by people who are in them...........booking them for their next cruise

Why would they do that?

1. Ship Desk......few feet up the hall. Like having a ""minute information desk"' right by your cabin. change when you wanted it.. a copy of your sign and sail account. More Fun times..........

2. Shore Desk........ditto

3. If you dine in the Sunset MDR............a very short walk down.

4. Easy. very, very close access to Promenade Deck. With deck chairs.

5. Basically a great view in an "inside" cabin

6. Basically an ocean view, with all the amenities of an ocean view in an "inside"

7. Very quiet

8. Everything is one elevator away. Casino. Shops. FIFTH DECK IS ALWAYS YOUR FRIEND. EVERYTHING IS A SHORT RIDE TO THE FIFTH DECK. go to the back. up to the Lido. middle casino

GO TO FOUR on elevators right by your cabins...............For Shows in Theater

9. Lobby Bar is there. SOMETHING going on all the time. Band. Dancing.

Yes. Specifically request those cabins by number.

They are one of the biggest bargins out there in My opinions. AND did I say they are NEW? Not any of the maintenance or plumbing problems that others on the Sunshine have complained about. Cabins LOOK new too.

I meant I booked 3115 for upcoming cruise. Did you end up in that room in 2013? Did you hear a lot of noise from liquid lounge above? I am looing at 3115 starboard where no smoking which I like and 3128 port side where there are smokers but the room is further toward guest services so may not be under liquid lounge and noise. Any info is great.
