galaxrex Posted December 25, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 25, 2013 I have a scheduled independent excursion on Grand Cayman early in the day in mid Feb. Ship scheduled to arrive at 7:00. Two other ships in port that day. We are supposed to be met in the Cruise terminal at 8:00 by guide. Is this doable or should I schedule a later trip? JYD Hawkeye Posted December 26, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 26, 2013 Yes it is doable and yes I would schedule it for a later time. My point is, nothing is guaranteed and you might not get off right away. Also depends on the seas at time of departure. Roughs waters cause delays. cb at sea Posted December 26, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 26, 2013 The guides know how this stuff works....they will wait a reasonable amount of time....just make sure of refund/cancellation policies....GC is one of those places you can easily skip because of weather/wind/waves! SConnolly Posted December 26, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 26, 2013 Also check what times the earliest Shipboard excursions are scheduled for, as they may have priority over you getting off. Suggest you have a phone # for direct contact in GC as windy conditions, rough seas can slow the process down but overall it is very efficient. The local folks in GC are used to all of this so I am sure you will be fine. We were just there last week, beautiful. Enjoy!
galaxrex Posted December 26, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted December 26, 2013 Thanks all. I feel better about making the tour. I checked the port schedule and our ship arrives at 7:00 only one other scheduled that day to arrive at 10:30 so shouldn't have to compete for tenders! Just hope the weather cooperates!
