marilynd Posted July 15, 2005 #26 Share Posted July 15, 2005 I have no way to explain it, but I win at least one bingo on every cruise I go on. Most of the time I win two. Anywhere from $80 to $650.00 in amount. Never been as lucky as Shoreguy. Keeping hoping to win the big jackpot someday. Funny thing is that I only seem to have the winning streak on cruise ships, don't win at Bingo very often when I play at home. I love playing Trivia and have also won various NCL goodies: (2) tote bags, frizbee, leather bookmark, keychains, coffee mug, NCL waterbottle and my favorite an NCL waterbottle from Del Sol that changes from clear to purple in sunlight. I also won $100 in Krack-its once. I love sea days Marilyn
shoreguy Posted July 15, 2005 #27 Share Posted July 15, 2005 Just so everyone knows I never played bingo again. Never played before. That cruise I split the pot on two other games. I figure I used up all my bingo luck. People at bingo were calling me the devil :D They would have thrown me overboard had I won the free cruise drawing
tigerlilycruiser12 Posted July 16, 2005 #28 Share Posted July 16, 2005 I won two art pieces on the majesty. On my next cruise on the Dawn, I won another piece. Have them all hanging up which brings back nice memories. :) Will continue to go to the auctions.
Tobintemp Posted July 16, 2005 #29 Share Posted July 16, 2005 Both myself and my mom who was traveling in the same cabin with me, won the comment card drawing on the Sun in May of 2004. We each received a tote bag with a framed picture of the ship, water bottle, frizbee (sp), bottle of wine, keychain, deck of cards, inflatable beach ball, and a few other small items. On the same cruise we also won a deck of cards each for the scvanger hunt.
serendipity1499 Posted July 16, 2005 #30 Share Posted July 16, 2005 Won a Seriolithograph in Color by Schaefer Miles on our last Holland American Cruise..Cost us $35.00 to have it shipped home & $250.00 to have it framed..:( But it's a lovely piece & we enjoy having it in our Livingroom.. We never bid on anything, but stay till the end as it's fascinating to watch those who do bid on pieces of art..:)
Suesan Jean Posted July 16, 2005 #31 Share Posted July 16, 2005 When we were on the Dawn in April, my DH was picked to be a "Taster" at the "Battle of the Chef's" cook-off. Besides being able to eat a delicious meal;) , he was given an NCL Beach Ball, which we happily enjoy playing with in our pool!!:) Suesan:) :) :)
vette Posted July 17, 2005 #32 Share Posted July 17, 2005 I have won several seriolithographs at the art auction, and once won $400.00 on a quarter slot. My dh who was with me immediately scooped up the winnings (he know I would have just put it back into some machine) and we put it on our room bill. That was the cheapest cruise I ever took!!!!! I won a NCL water bottle at trivia... I went on the Big Red Boat on a Disney Cruise back in 1989. My mom and I hit the casino at Paradise Island and I hit for $1000, its the most I have ever won in a slot machine, it was a .25 to boot!!! They paid me $1000 american dollars and it was tax free...We had just got there, I was on my 1st roll of quarters, needless to say we went back to the ship right away. Anyway, we loved Alaska so much that we took our free cruise back toAlaska on the Dream this past May-(had to take the free cruise within a year.) tbag124 Posted July 18, 2005 #35 Share Posted July 18, 2005 On my 1st cruise, I was 18 and I won $400 on slots! I thought that was the coolest thing! On my Triumph cruise, I walked away w/ about $900 one night from craps. And on our last cruise, on the Dawn, someone in our group won the free cruise bingo, someone else won a few thousand in the casino on slots, I was somewhat lucky w/ craps again and my BF and I won about $750 together, AND (the best and most exciting!) my BF won the Blackjack tournament for $500, only putting in $20 or $30 to play!! And I agree completely, johnql, the cruiselines take a HUGE portion of the pool for the Blackjack tournament, during the week, my BF was hoping the pot would be $1000 or more, based on the amount of people he saw entering...then we found out, it's a $500 payout and the rest goes to the cruiseline. Not that we're complaining, it was still so awesome that he won and it was a great experience! :) (P.S. He also got an NCL Casinos at Sea WINNER T-shirt!!) ;)
www Posted July 18, 2005 #36 Share Posted July 18, 2005 I never won on a cruise, but I won the a 7-day cruise on the NCL Majesty from Vacation Outlet and Magic 106.7. I was the 20th caller!!! I'm so excited, I'm going on the July 31st cruise from Boston to Bermuda.:D I was on a weekend cruise on Carnival last May 2004, and as I was sitting at the roulette table, they came on the speaker in the casino to say that one lucky person just hit the slots jackpot for $250,000 !!!!!! I was floored, I just couldn't stop thinking about what it would be like to go on a short week end cruise and walk out with a quarter of million dollars!!!! Soooooo Cooool:rolleyes:
bmorri Posted July 23, 2005 #37 Share Posted July 23, 2005 Just returned from the Spirit (July 16) and I won a 1656.00 Jackpot (on the hyperlink penny slots) in the Casino and then won a dinner for two on the spin to win. We had a gread dinner. Then at the Latitudes party I won the free mini facial. Was a great cruise!!
maryannha123 Posted July 23, 2005 #38 Share Posted July 23, 2005 On the Sun in November, I won a lithograph by Jean Claude Picot. It is a hurge (framed) still life of a vase & flowers & appraised at $575. I love Picot, but this piece is not really to my liking. I'm not sure what to do with it! Maryann

maryannha123 Posted July 29, 2005 #40 Share Posted July 29, 2005 John---The piece is called Le Vase Bleu de Madrid. It's really very nice--a lot of blue & red, but I'm not really into still life. If you are interested, I could send you a picture of it. Maryann
johnql Posted July 29, 2005 #41 Share Posted July 29, 2005 I'm sorry, Maryann. I reacted too quickly to your last post. I really do like Picot, but realistically speaking I have nowhere to hang it. Please accept my apology for raising your hopes of finding a new home for it.
The Bronx Girl Posted July 29, 2005 #42 Share Posted July 29, 2005 I won two art pieces on the majesty. On my next cruise on the Dawn, I won another piece. Have them all hanging up which brings back nice memories. :) Will continue to go to the auctions. Was the art pieces you won on the Dawn lithographs? Were they won at the Latitude party? Were they from Fine Art Whole Sale or Park West.
Darthtater Posted July 29, 2005 #43 Share Posted July 29, 2005 On the Star in July I split $200 on Bingo and then we won the trivia contest twice and received totes and drink huggers. I have never had much luck at the casino, though, darn it!
goldmom Posted July 29, 2005 #44 Share Posted July 29, 2005 On the Carnival Legend last fall, I won $1000 on a penny machine. Then this past March on the QM2, I won $3300 on five cent machine. This was the most I ever won, of course I managed to give some of it back. We'll be on the Dawn in September, hope my luck holds!
CRUISEinTIME Posted July 30, 2005 #45 Share Posted July 30, 2005 Always seem to win at least one bingo if not more, from $50 to 450.00. Also have been very lucky in the Casino. On my first cruise, the Zenith, I ended up paying for my entire cruise with my Bingo and Casino winnings.
sterling2 Posted July 30, 2005 #46 Share Posted July 30, 2005 We were at the Latitude party aboard the DREAM. They were ready to draw a name for dinner for two at LeBistro. Susie51 Posted July 30, 2005 #47 Share Posted July 30, 2005 I don't play Bingo or do things in the casino, but I do enjoy the trinkets I have won playing the pool games, beanbag toss, basketball shooting, and putting contests. I have waterbottles, tote bags, sports towels, luggage tags, a key chain, and a medalion. I use to participate in the activities to earn "dollars" to buy t-shirts and baseball hats so I have a collection of those also, but I didn't win them, I "earned" them. cod Posted July 31, 2005 #49 Share Posted July 31, 2005 We've been on 7 cruises and my luck is as follows.. On 2 Carnival cruises..zilch. I did not play bingo and the slots ate up my allotted casino funds in no time at all. Ditto for RCL slots and the couple of times I played bingo were fruitless too. (I like blackjack but it's hard to find a seat sometimes at the $3 or $5 tables). On our two NCL cruises I fared much better. I won $810 (3240 quarters) on the Sea a few years ago (I think I was out $40 at that point and I did not play again and give any back!) and came out a little ahead on the slots on the Sky. NCL bingo is another issue that I've already gone on too much about on the Bingo thread! But by the same token, the NCL slots have been good to me. On the Galaxy last year I was very lucky playing bingo. I played 3 times during the 12 night cruise and I won one $60 game (my first ever bingo win) and then I split the final night game pot of $3600 with another lady. I was so excited because that was the most I've ever won. Several people were already standing with one call to go and I had 3 spaces, so the motto is 'never give up'! I played more bingo on that cruise because it was long with more 'sea' days and cheap to play (less per session than the other cruise lines). Our next cruise is the Sun in December and I will bring my $60 or so gambling stash along. My husband doesn't like to gamble and so I have to listen to a 'perils of gambling' lecture whenever I want to slip away to the casino. Which by the way isn't often and usually - with my funds - not for long!! My husband is from Italy and his mother (bless her soul) taught me the remedy for that..."say yes and whistle"! (Ciao)
Cruising Bonnie Posted August 1, 2005 #50 Share Posted August 1, 2005 I was so excited...my name was drawn at the port talk about diamonds on the Dawn last year. I recieved a certificate for a diamond necklace from Diamonds International. I ran off the ship to the store to claim my prize. Well the necklace was worth $40 (it looked like it was worth a lot less). The moral of the story is don't go to the talk on diamonds to win a prize....stay at the casino instead.
