Carnival Imagination and Carnival Sunshine - My Back-to-Back Photo Review

Wrigley80, much thanks for the continued trip review. I see that you won a ship on a stick for the sports trivia on the last sea day of the Imagination cruise. I wanted to go to that but I had been sitting out on lido all day and was tired before hot tub time and dinner so I took a short nap beforehand and I never was able to wake up again in time. So I missed it. I am really glad that you were able to have fun there and win something. It is really cool that you and your dad have that kind of special bond. I am like that with my mother. We cruise together a lot and there are not many people I would rather travel with than her. Memories that will last a lifetime. People often do not cherish the time they do have with loved ones enough, until it is too late. Good for you. Also, very happy to see you got a job that you enjoy. I can attest to the idea that if you do something you like for work, you will never actually work a day at it. Hope it continues to go well for you.

 

I read your Sunshine review also. I have never been on the Sunshine, but it looks to be in that modern, deluxe supership category. You have done a great job so far with your storytelling. I have never been to New Orleans, but people keep telling me I should go since I do like creole cooking and Louisiana-style spicy food. I heard New Orleans and Key West are actually similar in their bar districts. People have said Duval St. and Bourbon St. are not that much different. I will have to definitely check the place out sometime.

Thanks for a great review! I'm really enjoying it. We head down to New Orleans on 3/1 for a cruise the next day to Key West and the Bahamas on the Sunshine. I reserved an electric car from the same place you did for Key West. They were very nice on the phone.

 

I noticed in the pictures of your cabin that you seemed to have a refrigerator. I had heard/read that regular balcony cabins on the Sunshine didn't have them. Did you have to request one from Guest Services, or was it already there?

The cruise isn't official until I win the first ship on a stick. My dad and I love to play trivia.....especially sports trivia.

The new job is going great. I made my first booking yesterday.....and guess what???? It was for a Carnival cruise.....haha

 

New Orleans and Key West are very similar. Key West has the small town feel. I don't really think of Bourbon Street and Duval Street of being similar. Bourbon Street is just one bar/club after another (there's a few places on Bourbon that look like they should be condemned). Duval Street has bars, shops, and restaurants.

We had a refrigerator in our cabin on the Sunshine because my dad needs it for his medications. We have to request it ahead of time from Carnival's Special Needs department

Well I'm back and ready to continue on with our cruise on the Sunshine. Day #2 on the cruise was a day at sea. We love days at sea. I wish they offered 7 day cruises to nowhere.

 

We were up by 8:30 am and we wanted to try something different for breakfast today so we headed to the Blue Iguana Cantina.

 

You pick the tortilla that you want and then you can pick the toppings

 

 

The Blue Iguana Cantina has short hours at breakfast and lunch so be sure not to miss out

The burritos are very filling and very good

Be sure to try these out on the Lido Deck. They are hand washing stations

 

Cucina is an omelette station during breakfast time

 

 

After breakfast we decided to take a stroll down to the Ocean Plaza area to play some trivia

 

If you are back here in the Ocean Plaza during the day be sure to wear a sweatshirt or the robe from your cabin. It is sooooo cold in here during the day

We took a pass through the Fun Shops to see if there was anything that we liked but no. The Fun Shops onboard need to improve. They need to get more t-shirt options and bigger sizes. I wanted to get a Carnival Sunshine t-shirt but they never had my size all week.

One place that we were really looking forward to trying on the Carnival Sunshine was the Shake Spot. It is on Deck 5 mid in between the Casino and the Ocean Plaza

Loving your Sunshine review! We were on the Sunshine in July, and it was seriously one of our best cruises yet! Hope you get to take many more cruises with your dad!

Thanks for showing the taste bar at breakfast. I will be on deck 5 on 2-2-14 and as long as I have coffee and croussaint I am good to go. Also I am usually hot natured as I have a lot of natural insulation on my body :), but I will take a sweater or light jacket since you said it was cool. Enjoying your review alot
