Travelers Check for Cash Account

I have searched the forum and NCL sites but there is no real clarification.

We are sailing NCL Dawn in the DOS. I want to set up a cash account for our party of 4 (2 adults, 2 children) The two children will not have charging privileges on their cards. Do they need the $300 deposited onboard for their expenses which they won't have?

I am planning on getting a travelers check in the total amount for the onboard account so that I can not carrying around that large of an amount of cash.

If I have determined tipping amounts for the Butler, Concierge and Kids Club should those be in cash or also add to the travelers check amount?

I can't help you with kids' requirements but with tips for concierge and butler you can go either way - give them plain cash or ask Guest Services to make you gratuity vouchers for the named persons and those will be charged from your onboard account.
