11cookie Posted July 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2005 Hi, trying my first transatlantic crossing leaving Southhampton 17th September to New York on Oriana. Does anyone have a clue what weather will be like, can you sunbathe, not sure whether to take any shorts etc, I do know NY should be hot when we arrive. Druke I Posted July 16, 2005 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2005 We've done several trans-Atlantics (not on Oriana) in Sep/Oct/Nov, and each time have hit storms that certainly detracted from enjoying the outside decks. Our last, on Golden Princess, Venice to NYC, 2002, we hit two large storms West of the Azores, and had a very bumpy ride. We had a balcony up on Caribe deck (Deck 10), forward, and had bow slap spray raining down on the balcony. Several windows along Prom Deck shattered, due to ship's flexing and fighting for headway, and the "barf bags" were placed all around the ship. Storm caused the ship to be 6 hrs late into NYC - but we had a great trip. A little rough water adds a lot of excitement to a trip! Enjoy your crossing.
