Anyone had to pay the new Liquor/cigarette tax in Galveston yet?

Just wondering how it went at the port. I am less concerned about the $$ for the tax and more concerned about how much time it added to debarkation. Anyone just off Triumph or Magic and had to pay the tax?

different port, but our first cruise to Canada out of NYC when I went through customs and they saw the extra on smokes, they told me how much, and you pay them in CASH. then off you go. didn't take any extra time. they look at your declaration forms and let you know.

The tax didn't go into effect until January 4th, so there are no ships that have embarked and subsequently completed their cruise yet.

Galveston is my home port but still one of the slowest for debarkation.....this is going to make it so much worse......and who and where is the tax going to be collected? I think it's going to be a nightmare.
