zorrosuncle Posted January 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2014 Hi -- If I book a flight via HAL on American from New York to Sydney with an overnight in Los Angeles, does American's carry-on weight apply for the entire round trip, or does that of Qantas (its flight operator) apply -- it is only 11 kilos. If American's weight limit does not apply, I will try to take United from JFK to Sydney via SFO, instead - I need to carry my optics up top with me! PennyAgain Posted January 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2014 Qantas monitors and enforces its own weight limits on carry on baggage. There is no 'carry over' from another airline.
Zach1213 Posted January 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 7, 2014 Qantas definitely weighs roller bags in my many experiences on the airline. Not usually backpacks or briefcases, but I constantly see them weighing nearly every carryon roller bag. More often from Australia than from the US, but still frequent from the US
