I love reading all of the posts and yes I have start some threads in the past. BUT I have to get this off of my chest..

Since we started cruising with Carnival 12 years ago we have seen so many changes. Some that we have frowned about and some we truly enjoyed.

Now with our next cruise we are going to in a few weeks experience the new dining experience on Liberty. Am I happy not really will it put a damper on my cruise. NO.

We too had so many cruises to make to be platinum but Carnival revamped them and we have to book more to get the perks that we want. Am I happy No but will it stop me from traveling with Carnival NO.

There was a time in my life that I was taught "Change is my friend" That is how I feel about Carnival. They are our friend and no matter what negative reviews we read about them we still go back.

It could be the price , the ports but I believe simply its the fun time that we have on their ships. We have had good and bad Cruise Directors . But everytime we cruise whether as a couple, family or friends. Carnival created another new memory. You can't take it away all you have to do is keep smiling...

So when you go on your cruise remember that Carnival is trying new things to make them better. I am sure the ideas came from fellow companies, passenger's , crew members or just the big guys at top.

No matter what go on that cruise with a positive light. If you go Negative that is what you are going to have a negative time. Go and be happy!!!

Personally, I don't like the feedback I'm reading ANYWHERE with the new dining program.

Yes, I will have to try it myself, but to have no dessert choices on some nights besides the ones listed, the variety cut back significantly.

I mean, they don't even hand you the menu any longer. They are just there on the table.

They did NOT have the customer in mind when they made this change, and I don't HAVE to like it. Being they are rolling it out slowly, it doesn't appear they have much faith in it either.

Now, about those tablecloths......

Change can be good and last month we were kind of bored with menu so looking forward to new stuff on the menu.

My real concern is the downward spiral in entertainment.

We will be experiencing this all next month on Glory and hope we will like it all but very prepared by voting with our feet to say bye bye Carnival.

These changes are not so much with customer in mind more to reduce costs.

I agree with you. Change can be your friend. A lot of people are complaining about the menu without even trying it. I am looking forward to giving it a shot on the Liberty during our b2b starting the 18th. I also think the entertainment has gone downhill. Hopefully that will change so in. Bring back some live bands on the Lido!!!

I'm ok with new menus, they looked good to me. What worries me is the family style serving everyone out of the same bowl or something. (Sounds GROSS) And the limits for choices makes it hard for people with food sensitivities....(automatically bringing a cake or something for dessert, one choice for everyone)

I am so very happy to see your post. It seems to me cruise critic has become a bit negative. I know change is inevitable - and you do not have to like everything - but I cannot imagine having nothing but negative on a cruise. I absolutely love the fact that someone is doing my cooking and cleaning and I can 100% relax and enjoy. You make your own happiness-there is more than enough to go around!!!!:D

I COMPLETELY agree with the OP.

It's all in the attitude. I may not like some of the changes but it in no way is going to ruin my cruise. Do I HAVE to accept them, certainly not. If I choose not to accept them, it's a free country. I can book with someone else. I go with a fun, positive attitude that I am going to have fun and I have not been disappointed at all. Yet. :)

You're kidding me ! They don't even hand you the menu anymore? I hadn't heard that part. That's actually rude. I'm serious about the tablecloths too. That really reduces the atmosphere of the dining room considerably, IMO.

Heck give them a little more time, and they'll skip the menu entirely and just post it on the wall.

OMG, I'm learning a lot in this thread, and I don't like any of it.

Do I understand this correctly? They don't give you a choice of dessert anymore? They just bring you a predetermined single choice ? Really? I'm finding this difficult to believe.

Totally agree with you! It seems like there are quite a few out there that only see the negative and harp on it to no end. Life is way too short to be that miserable. If you don't like something, it's up to each individual to move on and find what ever it is that will make them happy. Some however will never find their happy.

That is totally incorrect. You have choices of dessert and you don't have to share they "for the table" selections with strangers. Some people like to spread false rumors.

OP, I know we are in the minority but I completely agree with you. I am in no way going to let the removal of tablecloths or a change in menu ruin my vacation. I am grateful my family & I can afford a vacation, let alone a cruise going to several ports where most of the residents do not get our experience. So I will go with the flow and if I find the experience not acceptable, we'll try a different line for our next vacation. Life is too short and negativity will not play a major role in my life, JMO.

Happy Sailing!!!!

Hey, if I'm wrong, then GOOD. I'm GLAD to be wrong. I just was reading reviews that included putting family style bowls on the tables (and didn't include a lot of serving utensils) and automatically bringing desserts to the table. I sincerely hope that was like a first week flub or getting used to the new menu thing... those are in the reviews, I didn't make it up. But hopefully they will be more on target with the system as it rolls out...

I've been hoping to be wrong as well, but what I'm reading doesn't make me feel any better.

...there are more to cruises than that though... that's a really low standard to set for a vacation...

There is no pre-written or determined standard for a vacation so I really don't think you should be putting down someone because they like that they don't have to do the work of cooking/cleaning on a cruise. Everyone has their own idea of what they want to get out of a vacation.

I could care less about those "entertainment" things around the pool like the hairy chest contest, etc. but I am sure there are some that enjoy it. I don't really drink so the bars do nothing for me and I have never spent a dime in the casino or at bingo or on specialty dining. I actually like being able to walk away from the table and leave the dirty dishes behind and the bed unmade when I leave the cabin in the morning. I really enjoy the peace and quiet of sitting on my balcony and am looking forward to trying all of the different rooms in the Spa on the Dream and really having time for myself to relax.

Someone already posted that they think the waiters not handing you the menu is a downgrade in service. I really don't mind picking up the menu from the table. I may get more time to choose that way. I could also care less if there is a tablecloth on the table. My expectations for MY cruise probably don't match up with anyone else's but that doesn't bother me because I am the only one that has to be happy with them.

Totally agree. We have had a rocky two years and I am so happy that no matter what we can afford a cruise and spend time with, family, friends, each other and New people that we meet on board. Totally agree with not having to pick up. I am up vacation to have fun.

There was mention of a "family style" pie served for the entire table but I think that was listed as an option in addition to the other desserts for the night. To me that really isn't going to be popular. How many larger families all pick the same dessert each night?

Its my money. I decide what it goes for and I don't have to blindly accept these changes which are clearly not for our benefit...

I don't think the OP was suggesting that you have to blindly accept the changes - I believe the thought is that if you decide to stay with Carnival then you will have to accept the changes or be miserable.

I personally just want those people who spend all of their time on here complaining about Carnival making changes that they don't like to go somewhere else where they will be HAPPY.

You're right it's your money, so please spend it on what will make you happy.
