Jamaica on Ash Wednesday

on Cruise port insider.com - they mentioned it is a holiday in Jamaica. Different places observe it differently.

 

Does anyone know what impact it will have on stores etc being open on that day?

I was wondering this also since we will be in Falmouth on Ash Wednesday.

 

We were in Turks and Caicos one year on Good Friday and some stores were closed and they were not allowed to sell or serve any alcohol. We were at Margaritaville and they had non-alcoholic drink specials but they said the government was very strict. We could walk through the duty free shops but could not buy any liquor.

Many Caribbean Islands and resort areas have restrictions on selling alcohol the week of Easter, but I don't think it should be an issue for Ash Wednesday.

I checked all over the web and even on travel advisor and everyone said they have not been restricted from buying or drinking alcohol during Easter or Lent. :confused:
