Stay and Cruise

We are hoping to go on a cruise but would like to arrive in Palma maybe a couple of days beforehand. Looking online at their pages it seems that you can only get this info for cruise and stay (7 day cruise and 3/7 days after the cruise). Can anyone help? Do you think it would be better or cheaper to organise our own hotel or even the flight?

As we live in mainland Spain we have no option but to arrange our own flights, transfers and accommodation in Palma - we always travel at least one day early to guarantee arriving before sailing in the event of flight delays and, after our cruise in October, stayed for a week in a hotel.

 

Arranging everything yourself gives you much more flexibility - both in the number of nights you want and with a far wider choice of airline (many are cheaper than Thomson Air) and accommodation.

 

We find hotel accommodation cheapest with http://www.lastcheck.co.uk (cheaper than any Spanish site we know and always cheaper than booking direct with a hotel).

 

Taxi transfer (not pre-booked) to the cruise terminal from the airport cost 23 Euros.

In order to arrive a couple of days beforehand you would have to book your own flights, transfer to the hotel in Palma and then transfer from that hotel to the ship on the day the cruise sails. After the cruise you would have to arrange your own transfer to the airport or get the Number 1 bus to the airport from the port.

Thank you. I did think that was the case. We just wanted to spend some time in Palma beforehand rather than at the end. However I notice that the plane leaves Edinburgh at 5.30 morning!!! . So this means we will have plenty of time till ship leaves. We may not need to book hotel now.

If you want to spend 7 days in Majorca, you can have a Stay & Cruise, but these are 7 days if you want the stay before the cruise, the 3/4 day stays are only offered after the cruise, along with 7 days.

 

Remember, if you book your own flights, if they are delayed for any reason, the ship will not wait for you, as it's such an early flight, even a 12 hour delay and you would still make it, but just something to remember.

When you click on the cruise and stay option in the search panel, another box opens up to tick if you want stay before cruise.

 

There are plenty of flights from the uk, and the cruise only prices are quite good, especially when they have run out of flight availability!
