Yellow fever

Welcome to Cruise Critic!:D

Sorry, I had to look that up.... The Netherland Antilles includes the ABC Islands of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao are in located just off the Venezuelan coast about a thousand miles west of the Lesser Antilles.

Generally, no you don't need a yellow fever vaccine certificate to visit Colombia and then proceed on to other Caribbean ports.

What I don't know is if your departure port of Colon, Panama has other requirements. If you don't want to do all the research on your own, I agree about checking with others on your roll call, which is another board here on Cruise Critic.

Here is a link to chat with others on your cruise: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1953516

Have fun!:D

When we went through the Panama Canal on LOS, one of our ports of call was Cartagena. RCI included the following in our travel documentation:

“…we remind you to check with your physician at least 4 to 6 weeks before sailing to make sure you are up to date with any required immunizations or vaccines you may need (including but not limited to certifications of yellow fever vaccination) to ensure you will be permitted to visit each of the exciting destinations and tours on your itinerary. For further information you may contact the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Travelers Health website at www.cdc.gov/travel/ or 1-800-232-4636.”

With that stated in the documentation, we contacted our physician’s office and visited the website. We now are up-to-date with the Yellow Fever vaccine. Your doctor can help you decide if this vaccine is right for you based on your travel plans.

Here is what www.cdc.gov/travel/ says about Netherlands Antilles:

“There is no risk of yellow fever in the Netherlands Antilles. The government of the Netherlands Antilles requires proof of yellow fever vaccination only if you are arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. This does not include the US. If you are traveling from a country other than the US, check this list to see if you may be required to get the yellow fever vaccine: Countries with risk of yellow fever virus (YFV) transmission.”

Hope this helps….
