travelady65 Posted January 26, 2014 #51 Share Posted January 26, 2014 I'm currently on Davina. Just posting some quick notes. Beautiful ship. Service can be better in the dining room. I think they are still learning, but it's a challenge. Some servers are better then others as I have sat at 2 tables. Bar service had been really great. There are a few who are also still learning, but once you find the best bartenders service has been amazing. Hint, look for the Caribbean island bartenders, they know what they are doing. Lots of waiters and waitresss working the bar and pool areas, unlike my last Celebrity cruise. Premium Drink package has been amazing. Buffet is really not bad, people need to realize it runs both sides and go way back. The back has been empty when the front has been swamped. So if your looking for seats go all the way down, easier to fine. The best pizza I have had on a cruise ship. The shows are very good and should not be missed. I'm in a inside cabin, enough space for 2, still small. My pillows are the lumpiness things on earth. Bad pillows in my room. Americans are use to having bars of soap and wash cloths. No bars of soap available, wash cloths on request. Another thing I dislike with the room is, you have to leave your card key in the switch as you enter the room for full power. Also if you have a spare key, and you leave it in the door and leave, they will not makeup the room as they think the room is occupied and will not disturb you. If anyone have questions, I will do my best to respond. Hi i am going to be going on the MSC Divina again this October 4, 2014...was on her in december for the 3 night sailing.... how are the daytime activities on the ship? Is there a lot to do? I had the allegrismo drink package in december, and yes it works out very well...i am going to be doing it again in October..... I had an inside cabin #11208....and yes my cabin was small as well, although i did meet someone and they were on deck 5 inside cabin, and their cabin was larger than mine...In October i booked an Outside Cabin on deck 8...and i am hoping that it is larger than what i had in December, as i am bringing my grandson with me.... the thing that annoyed me, is when you put your card in the slot to turn on power....and when you go to bed, you take it out...but the light that is near to closet, always stays on, and it was very hard to get to sleep....he explained to me what to do, but i didn't quite understand him, as their was a language gap between us..... Other than that i loved the ship, the food, entertainment, the staff, crew...the ship is amazing and magnificent..... i cannot wait for October to arrive, so i can go back on her to the eastern caribbean....:)
travelady65 Posted January 26, 2014 #52 Share Posted January 26, 2014 'Are we able to utilize the Premium Drink Package on Great Stirrup Cay Beach Bars? When we went on Carnival, the drink package was not able to be used on Half Moon Cay. I was wondering if MSC has the same policy.' Good question! I called MSC and they said they'd email me about just that, can we use our ship card,/drink pkge,/or vouchers on Gr. Stir. Cay, but they haven't got back to me! So I will also ask any previous cruiser that visited the private island on MSC Divina, how did MSC handle drinks on the island? Yes, you are allowed to use the drink package on the beach island....I went to half moon cay on Divina last month, and we were able to take advantage of the drink package on the island... Bosjoe Posted January 27, 2014 Author #53 Share Posted January 27, 2014 (edited) Bosjoe When you have a spare little time, can you fill us in on some of the day time activities on Divina, especially on 'sea days'? My wife is worried I'll spend those sea days in the casino!-))I've asked MSC directly to post some daily's, but all they gave me was a daily showing disembarkation day. The shows, and dinner fill up most evenings, but MSC seems to be keeping it a secret what is going on during the day, especially on sea days! Enjoy you trip. I will be adding the sea days. Here is the first sea day. I will add the others a little later. It's not as elaborate as Celebrity and Royal. Bosjoe Posted January 27, 2014 Author #54 Share Posted January 27, 2014 As I am settling in at home now and back to working. yuck. I will say that I enjoyed this cruise lines, it has some service issues, but all cruise lines have there little issues. There was nothing for me to say I will never come back. I take life day by day and never let the little things bother me. The dining room staff try hard, but I think they are allocated to many tables and need more help. When your waiter had 5 tables of 6 people each well they get bogged down. As for food was OK not the worst far from it, the best shrimp in size compare to other cruise lines, they served large shrimp, alot better then those tiny ones, pasta I thought was very bland, more seasoning was needed, except the pumkin ravioli I loved, only dish I ate all of it. My room steward needs slightly more training, as this was her first cruise she ever worked and only 3 months into her contract. She was still sweet, only negative was not keeping the mini bar stocked. I would have a water every night and I had to ask her to replace it several times. As I said with bar service there are quite a few newbies, hunt out the good bar tenders. Newbies measure liquor and slow down the pace compare to the free pourers. Charlie and Alejandro excellent around the pool bar during the day. If you are paying for your alcohol by drink, watch out for your receipts for the correct charge. example grey goose and redbull, i got charge 2 different ways. One with serperate charge for vodka shot and redbull can($7.25 and $4.75=$12.00) and the other redbull/vodka mix ($8.50). Now the buffet is excellent for breakfast and lunch, not so for dinner, not as many offerings at dinner buffet, and it repeated itself a lot. Did I say pizza was the best.. :) I did not eat at Eataly or Galaxy, so no comment, but I was told Galaxy was very good. As for NCL private island they are upgrading it, the quiest and best beach the beach was all the way to the right, they made a private lagoon with a little island in the middle, not busy at all they had food close by, but not as big as the main food area. I am going by what others I have said after the cruise on my way to the airport, they enjoyed this cruise compare to Carnival offerings. I say try this cruise line keep open minded and enjoy. If you are worried about children(as I have seen several commenst about them) then don't book during school vacations, as there children are free program fills the ship up with them. If you love kids then you will have no problem.

The key needed to stay in the slot while in the room, there is a light swith right at the head of the bed, it was probably covered up by your pillows. You didn't have to get up. :) the little lamps has switches on the bottom. The little light that was staying on was when the key was removed the lil light stayed on. When key is inserted it stays off. :) If a spare key or credit card is put in the slot, they will not come in and make up your room, unless you use the don not disturb/makeup room door nob hanging that is in the blue listings book. I found out toward the end of the cruise that it was in there.

American Bear Posted January 27, 2014 #58 Share Posted January 27, 2014 Thanks for all your info during the cruise! Glad you had a good time! And you are absolutely right about every cruise having something that will tick you off, I can tell you some negative things about a free cruise we had on the beautiful Allure of the Seas, cause with thousands of people, on ever bigger ships, there are always a few problems! I got a little suggestion to you Bosjoe, gotta agree with you, work-yuk, (we're retired:)) if you can get the time off, and can afford it, the prices for a balcony on the Divina for the May 3, and May 10 cruises are at $530.,(employee rate special) amazingly low prices for a Balcony on a new ship for 7 days! Come back and say hi, cause my wife and I will be on a back to back because of these prices! If not, maybe we'll run into you sometime, somewhere in the future, take care!
