What do you like about the "S Class"

Yes, agree with all of the above, And, with having a single then a b2b in the same yr. and doing a few more lines/ships there after, we're back on the Eclipse in apr. And booked for a mo. In 2015. that would be, because it's a five star ship, and its sooo well worth the cost, never mind the stunning venues. My favorite not mentioned is the architecture of the MDR. The skeletal boat rib effect of it is sublime. I guess you just have to see to appreciate, try it, you'll love it.

We were lucky enough to get a large hump balcony cabin on the Equinox and it fast became our favorite ship. Great balcony or not, these are the things I love about the S-class (and I must mention, I also love the M class -- but it does pale a bit in comparison).

Staterooms: Well designed so it doesn't feel cramped and are the most soundproof rooms at sea. Some complain about a lack of storage -- we did not find it to be a problem. Others have complained about the nightstands -- I simply use a box or basket that I have packed other items in and set it on one of the nightstand shelves. The CC level balconies and above have wonderful footstools and balcony furniture that make napping a breeze.

Library: I love the open feel of the library - which may not be absolutely silent with the centrum entertainment -- but such an inviting place to curl up and read a book.

Solarium pool: This is where I hang out most. I love the beehive swivel chairs and right outside are a couple of hammocks. So relaxing. At night, the lights shine on the fountain in this are -- so gorgeous.

Observation lounge: this is reserved for aqua class as well as passengers using the spa services. This is right under the bridge and a wonderful place to enjoy sail away.

Martini bar: All sorts of seating options can be found here and it is always busy. The top of the bar is frozen -- very unique and fun. Bartenders here seem to be so friendly, hard working and entertaining.

Ship's cleanliness feel: Everything feels so clean and shiny on these ships.

Theater: I love how the main theater has the ability to hold a decent number of passengers. We never got skunked out of seeing a show because we didn't go stake out seats an hour early.

Layout near shops and casino: this has such a nice open feel and easy to get around without walking directly through the casino.

Centrum: This is the happening place in the evenings. Others complain about it but I love this entertainment venue. The crowds seem to make it even more appealing.

Sunset bar and lawn club: such a wonderful place to toast at sunset

I could go on and on .... but had such a wonderful cruise on the Equinox, I have since booked the Solstice x 2. PS -- the Equinox beats out the Solstice by a couple of points....but it is newer.

There's always a naysayer in the bunch, and today it's me. I prefer the M class ships. I don't like neon light in the MDR on S class. I prefer the T pools on M class. The seating in the Solarium is not as comfortable as on M class. Actually, the seating throughout is uncomfortable, chairs too low, chairs too deep. Michaels Club M class is in a better location and is more comfortable. There's no rendezvous Lounge on S class. Dancing takes place in the Atrium, which is too small a space, and it means that Guest Relations must compete with the mysic's volume so it's hard to talk to the Staff there. Only two banks of elevators, not three. And the staterooms! Those inadequate bedside tables! No clothes line in the shower. Storage above the beds that is difficult if you're short. And I don't like to store anything above my bed (too many earthquakes in my past). No drawers in the closet. In many rooms the safe is above or adjacent to the fridge, so it gets hot, not good to put electronics in. So no, I'm not an S class fan.

I agree. (Flamers get ready) The S class ships do have a lot to recommend them, but they are from "..I can't find anything wrong with them.." Maybe I was unlucky, but on my last two Silhouette cruises half the lawn area was closed almost everyday for "rest and regeneration". I've got plenty of grass at home; don't need it on a cruise ship. I've learned not to book an aft cabin since I don't like getting my exercise in corridors (no aft elevator). Meanwhile, the paucity of storage arrangement in the cabins is a constant challenge...it's not lack of space, it's poor design! And on a personal note, are those MDR chairs still almost impossible to move?!
