riddle Posted January 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 24, 2014 Anyone who lives in NOLA or is very familiar with it...last year we arrived on Friday night the week before Super Bowl. There were Mardi Gras parades all over but the only problem was our GPS had us coming down streets which were closed. We finally called our hotel and they helped us get in. This year we are arriving on 2/23 in the evening. We are coming from Ohio and will be staying a the Wyndham Riverfront. Can anyone help us find alternate ways to get to our hotel so as not to be affected by street closures? Thanks
jgmpuma Posted January 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 24, 2014 There are three parades that day. All three disband not far from your hotel in the late afternoon/early evening. Do like you did the last time: ask them how to avoid getting stuck in the traffic. As long as Convention Center Boulevard stays open, you can take that route from the US 90 expressway, which will cross over the St. Charles Avenue parade route. If you can arrive earlier in the day, that would be a big help.
WLHyatt Posted January 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 24, 2014 You should be ok if you take the last exit before the bridge, the one normally used to get to the port and stick close to the convention center. I agree that earlier arrival will be the best method to avoid all of that. If you get there right as one parade is finishing, you may have to fight some traffic.
