korr2 Posted January 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 25, 2014 Anyone been on the Disney wonder and/or Disney magic 5 night cruise from Miami ? How was it and which ship is better? Cruised on carnival and royal Caribbean. But looking to cruise on Disney. Thanks.
moki'smommy Posted January 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 25, 2014 The ships were virtually identical until the Magic had the 2013 dry dock. Currently, the Magic has been refreshed with MANY upgrades. However, the Wonder is the only ship that has the beds that separate (should you not want to share a bed with a cruise mate). If you are hitting the same ports, the cruises should be largely identical.
CSohio Posted February 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 16, 2014 We are looking at booking the Disney Wonder sailing from Miami January 2015. Would enjoy hearing from those who have recently sailed from Miami on Disney or recently sailed on Wonder. Any tips/tricks/advice with Disney would be great; we have only cruised with RCL. moki'smommy Posted February 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 16, 2014 We were surprised at how similar most cruise lines and even layouts of ships are--after 20+ DCL cruises between other lines. DCL differences that we noted--best service and entertainment anywhere although Celebrity did have a couple of good acts. DCL allows you to bring on board IN YOUR CARRY ON any beverage you wish--soda, water, wine, any form of liquor. Technically this is for consumption in your cabin, but unless you abuse it, no one is looking. Sodas (fountain service from beverage station or restaurants) are included in the cruise fare. There is no such thing as a soda card/package, etc. Tips and tricks--if you don't have what you want as far as dining, adult dining reservations, etc. go to the location listed as "Dining Changes" or "Palo Reservations" on the Welcome Aboard Navigator as soon as possible after boarding. You can usually get what you want at that time. The pool deck restaurant is a sit down, casual dining venue for dinner (NOT a buffet). It is really nice if you want a casual experience or to eat at something other than your assigned time. If you have ANY concerns/issues with your cabin, tell your host--they will get it fixed! Alan is the restaurant manager on the Wonder and he's a dear. Say hi.
DISNEY FANTASY Posted February 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Anyone been on the Disney wonder and/or Disney magic 5 night cruise from Miami ? How was it and which ship is better? Cruised on carnival and royal Caribbean. But looking to cruise on Disney. Thanks. I have been on a Magic, Wonder and Fantasy all very good, all great ships, Wonder was fantastic for us in 2013. The smaller ships are less crowded and often go to more interesting ports IMHO. I didn't like RCI I think you will find the food entertainment and service better on DCL, RCI had good shops and pools.
