Trying to decide on an itinerary for Spring 2014. Deciding between Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. Anyone have opinions on which is a better port? We like unique excursions, nature, beaches and not really interested in shopping.

Suggestions? Thanks! :)

You will find a wider selection of excursions from Ocho Rios. There are lots of fun things to do fairly close by...

Dunn's River, Mystic Mountain (bob sled ride and zipline), Turtle River Falls and Gardens, Blue Falls, and the very popular Scotchie's restaurant.

Does anyone know how far (by car) it is from Montego Bay to Ocho Rios? Our port is decided, the excursion is not. I like the idea of Dunns River Falls but not sure if it's reasonable to get there & back from Montego Bay and still have time in the middle to enjoy the excursion.

Montego Bay to ocho rios is between 90 minutes and two hours depending on traffic and which side of the city you are starting from. Rushnhour traffic in either city could increase that time a fair amount.

Yes, it's going to depend on your port times. If you're in port for 5 hrs, I wouldn't go. If you're in port for 8 hrs, sure you could do it. It's still a pretty good drive from MoBay to Ocho Rios and like the above poster said, it's really a matter of traffic through Montego bay as well.
