ali6879 Posted February 11, 2014 #26 Share Posted February 11, 2014 We are doing a 4 day in March and got a mini-suite for $399 a person. I'm pretty happy with the pricing :D And they were fantastic with the most recent price drop - I'm happy to have Princess on the West Coast but truth be told, I'd rather sail to the Caribbean and get the warmer weather. But for a quick getaway local to home, I'll take it.
MauiLvrs Posted February 11, 2014 #27 Share Posted February 11, 2014 I'd rather sail to the Caribbean and get the warmer weather. Us too... only if it wasn't so expensive to get to Florida... critterchick Posted February 11, 2014 #28 Share Posted February 11, 2014 I don't quite get why Princess is not doing a 3/4, with the weekend being a 3 and the week being a 4, as Carnival does, and Royal Caribbean used to do, before moving the Monarch to the East Coast. I was told that the 3 night weekend booze cruise to Ensenada, was one of the best money makers going. So, why does not Princess follow. Their 3/4 night schedule just reaks of disaster! We just got off of a 7 night Mexican Riviera on the Sapphire, and 3 nights ago, most of the full suites were still available. Once again, Princess is not selling their best suites, but giving them away. Pretty sad, when for a few hundred dollars less, they could sell them out on every cruise. Also, since we have just come back from a full suite.......a PH suite, C418, there is less room in a full suite on Princess then in a GS on Royal Caribbean. We have a few more cruises booked on Princess, but, weighing both lines, we are headed back to RCI, and will do some West Coast cruises on Celebrity. Rick I agree. I even went so far as to suggest it on the survey after my last cruise. We'd be on a ship twice a month if the 3-nighters were Friday-Monday. I don't see any sense in a Monday departure for 3 nights - unless one lives close to the pier, that means at least 4 days off from work, more likely 5. For that, one can take a 7-nighter. Two hotel directors on Monarch OTS told us that she made all of her money on the 3 night weekend cruises and that any revenue on the 4-nighter was gravy, but that the weekday getaways were more of a loss leader. Perhaps Princess will consider juggling the lineup to give us more weekends. We still favor RCI for a variety of reasons, and if we have to get on a plane to travel, will likely sail on them. But close to home, I'll take what I can get!
