AtlFamilyof4 Posted February 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2014 so, DH and I will be on Liberty in a month with our 3 and 7 yr olds. We like the casino and the late night adult shows, but I am a little leery of the in-cabin babysitting... What exactly do they do in the cabin? I mean, it's not like there is a lot of room to play or anything and how likely is it that the kids fall asleep with someone they don't know sitting right there... Has anyone used it and how did it go?
JBert Posted February 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 10, 2014 Its $20 an hour for two crew members, not AO staff. They'll sit there and play with your little one You're better off putting them in royal tots/ AO if its available. Sent from my Galaxy S3!
setsail Posted February 10, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 10, 2014 If you would rather, AO has late evening programs with other kids Click on just for kids http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/experiencetypes/category.do?pagename=onboard_cat_kids_teens_and_families&pagenameMain=main_family&discriminators=
dibh1129 Posted February 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 10, 2014 We just got off explorer today with our 3 and 5 year olds and they have late stay 10pm until 2am for $7 per hour. Our guys only stayed until 10pm but they are begging to get back on the ship (we created this mess ourselves ;) Sent from my iPhone using Forums
jmf123 Posted February 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 10, 2014 Babysitting is available in a group setting or individually in your stateroom. (Also, in addition maybe check out the My Family Time Dining option). This is from RCI's website: Q: Are babysitters available onboard? A: Babysitting is offered both in a group setting, and individually in your stateroom. In stateroom babysitting must be reserved through the Guest Relations Desk (Purser's Desk) at least 24 hours in advance. It cannot be reserved prior to the cruise vacation and there is no guarantee that sitters will be available. The service is offered between 8:00 am and 2:00 am when personnel is available. Sitters will be assigned on a first come first served basis Children MUST be at least 1 year old. Approximate Rate: $19 per hour for up to three children within the same family. Times and prices are subject to change without notice. Payment will be made using your onboard SeaPass card. dibh1129, I wasn't aware of the late stay at $7/hr. AtlFamilyof4 Posted February 11, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted February 11, 2014 thanks y'all! I guess I was just curious what the sitter actually does in the room if the kids are asleep. I don't think that would work for our family only because I know my 3 yr old won't go to sleep like that. We may not be doing much late night stuff... not sure if she can hang with the 10:00 pm to 2:00 am crowd. i'm afraid she would be so irritable getting to bed that late.. oh well, we'll figure it out

If you say they can leave the cabin and stroll the child around they will do that. I highly recommend you do not allow this. I was walking down the promenade and saw my stroller with child unattended while the sitter was busy shopping.
boulders Posted February 11, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2014 In AO, the little kids will have quiet activities after a reasonable time at night. They will have a quiet video going and provide a spot for the little ones to lie down. I can't remember if there are blankets. I used the in cabin babysitting when ds was 2. The sitter sat in the dark and watched TV.

I will probably just stick with dropping them off at the after hours care if we end up doing anything.
