CruiseHappy3 Posted February 11, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2014 Will be on the Breeze in March and not sure what to do in DR. I'm trying to decide between CCL Bayahibe Beach excursion or Altos De Chavon excursion. Any thoughts or suggestions? Have you been on either one and can share your experience with me?

sunnysbee Posted March 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2014 We were on the Carnival Freedom this past week and we went to Altos De Chavon. We did not book the tour through the ship. When you get to the port there is a large fenced in area with signs pointing to either taxis or shuttles. We took the shuttle to Altos De Chavon for $7 per person. The shuttles back to the port run every thirty minutes. We had a great time walking around and ate lunch at one of the little cafes there. It was extremely safe and very beautiful. It is a larger area than the pictures make it out to be and the photos we got were amazing.

sunnysbee Posted March 27, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 27, 2014 Nope. It didn't cost anything to get into Altos de Chavon. The shuttle dropped us off at the front of the property and told us that the shuttle would be at that same spot every 30 minutes when we got ready to return to the ship. And the $7 shuttle fee was round trip. It was really one of the easiest things we've ever done on a cruise.

Have you been on either one and can share your experience with me? I read the reviews for the CCL Bayahibe Beach Break and you definitely do not want that. Not sure but it sounds like you go to the Wyndham and not Dreams. Many ppl looking for a nice beach and/or pool day taxi on their own to Dreams in Bayahibe, beautiful resort that we're staying at in a few weeks. Bayahibe is a small fishing village and Dreams is within walking distance so you can experience the village along with a nice time at Dreams. Taxi is 20 min and reasonable if you get a group. If you want something more I would look at the Seavis or Pro Excursions Saona Island excursion. We took the Seavis excursion when we were there last year and it was the best excursion of our cruise by far. Highly recommended by many on this forum. Thanks for the helpful info:D I think we are going to try this since we are during the beach at our other ports. Where do you pick up the shuttle by the cruise port? sunnysbee Posted April 9, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 9, 2014 When you get off the ship, you are inside a gated area. There will be signs pointing you to the shuttles and there are two lines, one for Altos de Chavon and one to go downtown. It probably took us two minutes to walk from the ship to the shuttle area. Super easy. It is a very nice shuttle operation.
