Seasoned cruiser on RCCL/Celebrity, new to DCL. We're a young couple who will be cruising on the Wonder (5 day, 12/5) for our honeymoon. No kids yet. Any tips and tricks? I read the tips article, but I'm wondering how much of that is up-to-date? Anything specific to the Wonder? We'll be in a concierge room.

Some specifics I want to confirm/verify:

True we can bring on alcohol, for in room consumption, in carry-on (including hard alcohol)?

We can drop off two items at Guest Relations to be signed?

There is self service soda?

Tips on things not to miss/things not worth the trouble?

Thanks in advance!

You can carry on as much alcohol as you choose--or any other beverage...any type. The only stipulations are that it must be in your carry on bag and that it is for consumption in your suite/stateroom. If you choose to take a bottle of wine to a restaurant, there is a $20 corkage fee. You can carry a glass into the dining room at no cost.

Fountain service soda is free at the beverage station (24/7) and in the dining rooms. IF you purchase at a bar, room service or from a roaming server by the pool, it comes in a can and there is a charge. In concierge, there is a complimentary supply of soft drinks in your beverage cooler. Whether these are replenished or not depends on suite category.

Being concierge, you don't have to drop your items at Guest Services for signatures--just give them to the concierge.

Book Palo for a good adult only dinner. Being concierge, you WILL be seated as "just us" in the main dining rooms unless you want to be with others. Contact the shoreside concierge before the 120 day mark with any special requests.

On board, concierge with have a special meeting with one or more character(s) at a reception. Go, and bring camera. When you board, go to the concierge reception. You can drop you carry on bags here while you go to lunch...or just eat munchies here and skip lunch. They will go over your scheduled activities with you and do any bookings you want. On the first night, there is frequently a "Match Your Mate" game (like the Newlywed Game). One pair of contestants is the most recently married couple. Go, and play. All participating couples win a NICE prize. (spa pass, usually). Even if you don't play, it's hysterical to watch.

If you enjoy coffees from Cove Cafe, ask for a coffee discount card. They'll stamp it for all specialty coffee purchases, including alcohol drinks. When the card is full, you get a free drink.

The Cove Cafe, adults only, is really nice on Wonder, and usually not busy unless it's an Alaska cruise since they have an enclosed viewing space.

  • 2 months later...

Something you wont see on just about any other ship, other then the Disney Magic. Go out onto the deck 4 promenade. Look for lifeboat station #10. I think its on the port side. There is a seam that goes from the deck to the upper levels of the ship. Its a fake seam. There is an identical one on the Disney Magic. That one is real. The Disney Magic was built in 2 different yards, then the bow was towed to the yard the stern was being built in. And then welded together. To keep the ships almost identical, when the Disney Wonder was built, several months later, the builders put a fake seam in.
